I don't know where all the car titles were available for public scrutiny so I presume you have concrete insider knowledge that includes everyone's education history. Well done. The newspapers took the same tone, referring to the tunnel in which the action took place as a 'suburban area', leaving one to imagine prams and shoppers were put at risk. Ignoring that, if the message here is that one should not be allowed to drive anything unless one has paid for it with one's own labour then I see where your point. Failing that, I would suggest that the ownership is moot, as is the economic background of the various people involved, indeed if a democracy takes into account one's social position before making a judgement, it isn't really a democracy.

Having said that I'm not at all in favour of inconveniencing other road users; that is rude and for social cohesion manners are perhaps more important than laws. The drivers should not have behaved badly, end of story.

What is important however is the following: The police did not witness any infractions of the traffic code, neither did a camera record their behaviour, neither was any property damaged nor any factual evidence of wrong-doing presented. What did happen was that folk complained via cell phone that they were held up, as in made go slowly (read not speed themselves) and based on that property was loudly confiscated and fines were issued.

This is a pretty slippery slope. What would you think if, following an unsubstantiated telephone complaint, by someone who didn't like you or your place of education (probably not your choice), you ended up with your property being confiscated and you being fined? I wouldn't think much of it, in fact should such a thing occur, I would be there to help defend you.
