    Come on Dave,

Surely you're kidding. While the other site has some users who were banned from here, to call it that is retarded. I can assure you that there is no favoritism taking place there. There are trouble makers here who will soon be banned there as well.

Taz, the Admiral, Brian Crawl, guy ingognito etc..? Seems rude to put them in the same category as Noah and Wyo.

Don't be afraid of big brother

There's room for two good Ferrari sites on the interwebs.

I think they lurk here long enough to see anyone with a noob question get skewered. To avoid that they try the "tread lightly" approach to deflect people climbing all over their backs.

    Noobs skewering noobs.

Were I a mod, I'd ban people for saying "that's what the search function is for".

Of course I'm kidding, and who you calling a retard?

Wow, Noah and Wyo? Are they active on F-life? If so, it might just make that site worth visiting. I thought it was more of the wetpet show over there. You know, angry Ed, tossed out of fchat, lands there and becomes the in house cheerleader for that site while constantly bashing this site and the folks who frequent it? Oh, and a couple other MAR guys who got the heave-ho are active there too, right?

The thin skinned members at f-life hate it when anyone posts anything about them here, and yet they dedicate thread after thread to angry gnashing of teeth over their perceived mistreatment at Fchat that lead to their leaving, or more often, getting tossed out. Along with personal attacks against members here, moderators here, and of course Rob. Andrew, who runs the site, takes an interesting approach to his even handedness to say the least.

And you're kidding, right? Without Fchat, there would be no F-life. Where would Andrew find any members if not for the cast offs from here. :D

There certainly is room for multiple Ferrari enthusiast sites, but clearly only one can be the leading site. The rest must fall into, at best, second tier status as f-life does. Not saying it's a bad site, because it isn't. It has interesting content, some good users, but a terrible inferiority complex when it comes to this site, and that plays out there every day in posts from a dozen or so guys who dominate that site and post a lot of silly crap about FerrariChat.com.

Back to the original premise. Yes, my post was a light hearted poke at the other site, no more, or less.

Don't forget the complete ******baggery of open and backdoor recruiting let alone "claims" via Google and *ahem* other Ads.

I didn't really want to get back into this, yesterday was too much fun, but I'd like to go on record (how's that for meaningless) as registering protest and officially demanding every moderator permanently expel anyone who responds to 'I finally got the bolts loose' from whatever the hell it is, with the non-word 'congrats.' In fact, every time somebody says congrats he should be automatically banned for life. 'I just got my seat Leatheriqued!' after that, 8 guys say congrats.

    ...polite society...

....wait wasn't that supposed to be "armed"...lol

Maybe we newbies are apologizing ahead of time for not noticing or being to lazy/clueless to use the "SEARCH" function in the above help bar to the left of the User CP tag....

    ....LOL

btw thx to SEARCH function I won't be asking my question about supercharging a 328 and have definitely decided against it. (think the post that made up my mind about the subject went along the lines of "if you want more power, buy more car") -- Sage Advice.

    Thx You again FerrariChat!

Saved this newbie from foolishless. :)

In my case it's not fear. I know alot about lots of things, but not Ferraris. And...I KNOW I do not know.

It is "gentlemanly deference," plain and simple. And...I might add....entirely appropriate, as well as all-too-lacking in our modern world. Unbridled bravado is a pretext to idiotic behavior....combine that with a high performance car with complex maintenance routines. People can get hurt easily, or worse. Anyone that would skimp on the details of any aspect of these cars does so to their peril....at every stage of the game, inspection, purchase, driving, maintenance, and reselling.

There are many experience owners/dealers/mechanics/racers and this whole Ferrari business is a complex and multi-faceted affair. To be engaged in with acumen, and to stay with it, requires a learning curve that is shortened by reading carefully the experiences and knowledge of others who have "been there and done that."

I find it to be very telling on someone that comes here and LACKS the appropriate gentlemanliness, deference, and respect. It's really a commentary on the person doing the speaking at least as much as the perceived nature of the forum. In my short 3 years here there's a simple formula....the cocky, know-it-all, smart*sses have, by far, the shortest tenure on here. Likewise for those are that are overboard with the pinache and status of Ferrari. the glam if you will, rather than a truly special car with specific and high-shelf requirements for ownership, maintenance, and driver involvement. I don't know how to put it any plainer than that.

I think it's a reflection of online discussion communities. I've looked around on other boards and a lot of them are seriously feisty. In my experience, Fchat is one of the more friendly and civilized forums out there, P&R included.
