Hi, I would like a few opinions on a car I am considering purchasing. It is an 04 red manual car heavily optioned with 4,800 milesa and has had 2 previous owners. The car has had no paint wrok and is in pristine condition. It is a ferrari certified car and the dealer wants 102k for it. It seems as if it is a fair price but before I pull the trigger I want to make sure that it is. Any opinions are much appreciated, thanks.

Give us a link to the car so we can see it. Spider / Coupe, complete list of options and factory supplied accessories. Don't think you can get a 2004 Certified, too old.

As you said in your OP, this car seems like a fair price. I think it is at the higher end of the market as far as asking prices, but it sounds like a very nice car.
Is this an Authorized Ferrari Dealer or resale dealer that has the car?
If you really like the car, try to negotiate on price or have them include warranty, major service(if not done yet), all fluid/oil changes in the deal for 1-2 years.........

Price seems fair for rosso coupe with that mileage. When was the last belt service?

I would definitely suggest you get an independent mechanic to do a PPI on it before you buy it.

Still seems high for a coupe, and a manual transmission which is a deduct. I would search on Autotrader.com and Dupont and try to get a feel for the market. What is the Dealer saying you get with the "Certification?"

You also want to check the alternator harness.

Come with all books, keys, cover, and tool kit? Have the radio code? Have the Alarm Pin code?

    Don't get into a rush.

Just my opinion but if you are going to spend over 100k on a 360 coupe I would scrape up some more cash and buy a 430 only becasue you are not too far on price. I am seeing some 430 selling in the 115 to 125 range for 05's. I have a freind who just bought a 05 - 430 spider Ferrari red with all options for 156k.

I just bought a 360 spider fully optioned 01 not 04 for much less with full service history and major service within the last year.

430 is my preference but I refuse to take a loan out for a toy so that is why the 360

I just purchased a 2004 spider and paid 105 then got some extras done to it. I knew I was at the higher end but the car had considerable custom work that I really liked and to me it was worth it. I had a very extensive PPI done and it passed but they suggested getting some things which I also covered. Talk about taking a plunge, I had never seen the car in person (too far away) and when the ramp came down on the delivery truck and saw the car for the first time, I felt as though I got the deal of the century because to me it is perfection.

Buying a Ferrari isn't like getting a Honda or Chevy, its much more emotional and visceral. I agree to negotiate whatever you can, but if you found one that really makes your heart flutter, don't let it slip by because you are trying save 2 grand. Major mechanical issues are a little different and that is where I would take the emotion out of it. At the end of the day any object is only worth what someone is willing to pay... if you are willing its worth it. BTW on auto trader a 2004 for 102 would be low. They go up to 130.

I love mine, when I drive down the street people stop in their tracks to look and wave. Every time I see it in the garage I smile, not believing I finally fulfilled a life long dream, and OH the sound it makes......

    Good luck with your decision.

You need to look more closely before posting, he is looking at a manual 2004 360 Coupe, not a Spider. 102k is too high.

Just because it's a Ferrari doesn't mean it's fairly priced for the market. Now is a buyer's market, you are giving advice like you are the dealer or seller. 10k might mean nothing to you, but to others, that is a lot of money.

Bull**** who made you the authority? The car appears to be well equiped and in great condition. If it checks out $100k is reasonable. Big deal if you can save $5k on another car, this one sounds very nice and manuals are In higher demand.
You will easily be at 140k for a comparable 430 but of course.you can find a lesser car for less money.

I am not sure anyone knows if the manual shift is an advantage or disadvantage. I suppose It depends on when you are going to sell. If you are thinking this is a 10-15 year car for you, the manual may end up being worth more because they might be hard to get. If you are thinking you are going to have this for a year or 2 then you prob want to get market or below to minimize your losses.

I would love some opinions but I would say for the car you mentioned 80-85 is a steal, 110k is too much. 90-95 is probably where it should be. Recent major is 5-10k value, and then there is the emotional is this the one. Bottom line is 102 might be high but it does not seem completely unreasonable based on what I have seen.

    Again best of luck.

What you guys appear to be forgetting is that $102K is what the dealer wants for it. It doesn't mean that's what he'll get, and I do think it's a buyer's market at the moment. There's nothing preventing the OP from making an offer that's < $100K.

I have seen a 360 2001 manual(I want one) in the $90's,yet you can get 02,03 for that they can ask whatever but will they get it? I just had a PPI done on a 550 and some of the 550 prices are in the $90k range...hell you can get a 575 for that......the market in the opinion of a Ferrari dealer I know says it will NOT sustain these high prices and folks are dreaming; I hope so b/c we all want to save some $$$$$.....dog

Manual is not a price deduct. If anything, it adds value as there are so few of them available and they still seem to be more attractive to a large segment of the market.

Having said that, I think over $100K is too much for the car.

How much? I'm less sure of without seeing the car in question.

There are coupes out there in great shape low miles serviced in the 80k range. Missed one in SLC at Steve Harris red with challenge wheels new service 74k 19k miles awesome car it was an F1. I have looked at many 360s some questionable and some right on with everything and not one was over 80k. For a 100k it must have diamond encrusted steering wheel? like I commented before at that price go with a 430.

Whatever these people may say - a manual will cost you more if that is what you want. It is VERY difficult to find a nice manual car. 90% of the late year 360 production was F1 - that really diminishes the available pool. Moreover, I think a bigger proportion of the F1 cars are for sale because they have caused their owners big $ problems, or their owners are worried about big dollar problems. And, I think more than 10% of the people looking to buy are specifically looking for a manual.

So - very few manual cars were made - even fewer proportionally are for sale - and a proportionally larger portion of the buyer pool is looking for them.

The people that have a nice manual car often know they have something that is hard to find, and price the car accordingly.

When I was looking for a 360 coupe, 2002-2004, manual, nice condition...I found VERY few for sale that fit my requirements. I got frustrated. So I did a little statistical analysis (hey - I'm an engineer, what can I say) and calculated that Ferrari had PRODUCED less than 200 cars that fit my requirements. No wonder that it was so hard to find one for SALE within a reasonable distance.

With all that said - I think $102 is a bit high. I found a VERY similar car to the one you are looking at (2004, same color, most of same options - Daytona seats are a definite big plus - I wnated them and got them, albeit with 12,000 miles and not certified) and paid low to mid $90s for it a year ago. Most people on this forum opined that I over paid. I say I got the car I wanted. And I am still happy with the purchase. None of that 'well I really wanted x, y, or z, but this car was a good deal so I bought it anyway.'

Prices have gone down since then. So, that's why I say that $102 seems high.

On the other hand, you will likely be searching for a long long time to find a suitable substitute. Strike a deal in the mid 90s and call it good.

    Good luck.

I also tried to purchase the one you are describing at Steve Harris. Gorgeous car. Everything I was looking for other than power seats. Missed it by a day. Agree with your pricing assessment completely.
