And they also rebuilt your wallet a little bit. You did not get a deal there my friend. I spent 21gs and had all hill engineering parts where needed, new clutch disc, new valve guides, new water pump, new cv boots, stripped and repainted valve covers, completely cleaned the intakes, cleaned the injectors, installed new tubi headers, Dave helms gold kit(I installed while engine was out) All new fluids of course and all the other 30k parts. Much of this was a one time expenditure and the next 30k service will be under 5gs. If your getting a straight forward 30k service with no surprises, your looking at 27 hours labour and about 1,700 in parts.

I'm not sure why people are bashing an owner's service yet have no data. I'm not sure why people like scaring potential owners. Doing that lowers the demand for you car which lowers its resale price. So you guys keep talking down your cars. I don't own a 348 or a 355 anymore so I got no dog in this hunt. But geeze you guys could be a little more positive. A well sorted 348/355 is a pleasure to own and continually brings smiles to your face when you drive it. I'm still here after 4 Ferraris and my current 550 being flawless and one day I'll probably have another 348 or 355. I'm not scared of these cars at all. I'd even buy a cheap one knowing there are fixes down the road. Many of you watch SandyEggo AKARicks Urge to drive videos and know of his 355 university thread where he spends about 1/2 the 355's value making his 355 perfect with no stone unturned. Well guess what he has got trouble free driving and all you guys are watching it on his videos. We got DaveHelms now and Hill Engineering and a huge Fchat braintrust and we can make these cars as reliable as we choose.

I come from the 360 side of the aisle.. where nobody fixes their own car and then come on FChat and state these silly repair costs because the mechanic "had to take their engine out for an oil change", and they don't know any better so they write the check.

My philosphy is that once I buy the car I have as long as I want to fix things that may break. Fix it the right way and don't half-a$$ it.. It may cost $10,000.. but I have as long as i want to save it up and then fix it. If you NEED to have your car fixed tomorrow to drive it, then plunk the cash down. Otherwise you have time to research it and fix it, or save and have it fixed. Research the car, get a PPI, know what you're getting into. Download the repair manual and see HOW things are repaired. Follow the cooking instructions and do it yourself, or give it to your mechanic and know what they will be doing on the car. They are expensive cars, but in the end... it's just a car. :)

As far as settling for a replacement: don't do it. An Honda NSX or Vette or whatever may be "as close to a FCar as possible", except that it's not a Ferrari. A Casio keeps time as good as a Rolex, but it's not a Rolex. Life's too short.
