These drives really sound like fun. Work usually prevents me from joining on these adventures but my schedule has really opened up this fall so I hope to come along on the next one.

I work a lot of weekends myself so the off (free) Sunday is rare. Sometimes I don't know I have it off until Thursday or Friday hence the short notice.

I would like to try for early October if the weather holds.

I am in too as long as we can find a sitter (my wife will want to join); my 458 just arrived at the dealer yesterday and will be ready early next week.

When I was in high school I used to go up to Cougar Mountain Rd. Haven't been out there in decades, so it has probably changed, but it used to be an extreme winding hill climb with tigh curves at the top and nice 30mph tight switchbacks with little up there but a couple of houses. I'd guess it's all wall-to-wall houses now.

But I once launched my (then dad's) '86 Dodge 600ES convertible (Super K platform) off a dip in the road and flew for about maybe 50 feet before the wheels came back to the ground. I was also surprised by a 15mph hairpin the first time through and wound up putting the front-wheel-drive car into a powerslide. (How, I have no idea, because I was just reacting...I think there was a little elevation change that allowed the rear to pop around.)

Wall to wall it is, suburbia boulevard now.
I lived in Eastgate when there were still horse farms up there, considered "country" back then. We used to go on day hikes from Hilltop to Cougar Mountain following an old logging road, houses now.
There were also farms and orchards at 148th and Bel-Red Road (Overlake) during that time, also country.

Back when we drove through North Bend on our way to Seattle, and we used to watch skydivers landing in the grass as we drove by on the highway - South of where Lake Sammamish State Park is now, and there was an airport in Bellevue where Spiritridge Park is. Two of our favorite Seattle stops, Boehms and XXX have been there the entire time on the original highway (now Gilman)

I hope I can make it to the last Dash to the Pass we'll have this year.
