Helps see why the deck is not glass, only half of the engine is visible, the Dino influence can be noted though , well I can see it anyway :)

I don't know - I really like the glass cover... I feel like something is missing without it.

Same here. That's really cool, and actually very usefull.

I never thought I'd say this, but I think for once the Spider version looks even better than the coupe.

im surprised they went without the engine glass cover -

many dino cues in this - looks very pretty , im indifferent right now - but given the dino cues on the back - i think its a great move in the right direction.

I for one am pleased there is no glass covering the engine. Why? Because I find it difficult to get it pristine clean. The scuderia with the lexan cover was a b---h to clean as is the glass on the 458.Looking foward to ordering a spider.

I won't lie, I'm on the fence and the crazy thing is that thiS would be my upgrade....I see the Lotus hints. I know that the direction is right but something just isn't clicking with me....

    Hi,
Have you considered this…? I pad? … Maybe the best way forward is a step back in design but still with better content …it’s a book  1960, dino, Daytona, maserati, the mangusta, Aston 5, Lamborghini contach, iso, even …YES !!! GT 40 & it goes without saying the fab MUIRA. I don’t know the why etc… but I do understand that the Lotus question is just a cheaper mix of things that work, that said compilations never work completely for that very reason, they are a mix designed to push 1 or 2 buttons that’s all, you can’t have it all at the same time.
So do you want red or yellow? 

I am with you. Love the idea of the folding hardtop but with the top up, I just don't like the look, of the area, just behind the front windows. It screams for some design element. It looks bulky and not as sleek as it does in the coupe, IMHO. Maybe if it was in CF?

Watching the video it looks like the demonstrator had to hold the key turned for the full 14 seconds until the unit retracted or closed.

That could be a little awkward especially for a tall driver having to hunch over and wait.

I assume 99% of the time you would be using the dashboard button instead.

I had such high hopes for the 458 Spider. I'm going to be purchasing a 430 Spider next year, and originally the plan was to enjoy it for a few years and then trade up to 458 Spider and keep it forever, but not anymore.

The 458 Spider is absolutely beautiful, but one aspect I really fell in love with on the 360's and 430's was the windowed engine bay cover. It's just amazing being able to see the "heart of the beast" every time you approach the car. So instead, I'll buy the F430 Spider and keep it forever instead. So actually Ferrari saved me some money, haha, but I'm still sad to see no engine window. I would have gladly taken a soft top instead of the hard top if the engine was still visible from outside.
