348 two mufflers..why?

Oh good, glad I wasn't the only one!

 

If memory serves me correct the dual cans were do to noise restrictions (Sweden/Switzerland????).

I got rid of both of the fat pigs in my car http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=259070&page=2. The dual cans weigh around 70/lbs conbined, and that doesn't include the cats, which are about another 7-10/lbs each.

 

Either that or they could be used as boat anchors in a pinch.

I was a bad man once and removed both mufflers from my 348 and ran two little dump pipes straight out of the cats.

Do not think they would design an exhaust system based on Swedish regulations, that would affect the rest of the planet......
Mind you, only ten cars or so are sold here each year.....must be another reason, imho.
