so, did anyone go? could you be so kind and post some pics of the TT Celebration race and particularly, of any GTOs? thanks
Again the Revival was a wonderful weekend. From the sight of nine Spitfires in formation over head to the amazing lengths people took to look the part, the Rivival again marked it out as a unique event in the classic car world. You could have spent a whole day just looking around the car park and still have had a great day. Here are a copy of shoots to give you a flavour or cars in the car park: http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n311/hotrodcar/Goodwood099.jpg
Pictures from the Friday and the Sunday, not edited them properly yet and need to finish captions. https://picasaweb.google.com/116166221180333731371/GoodwoodRevival2011 The Nick Mason GTO came second in the TT, after a stunning start by Martin Brundle going from 7th on the grid to 2nd. Brundle and Hales were sublime behind the wheel using the GTO's balance really well and one of the few cars not wheel spinning out of the chicane. No one was ever really going to catch the Shelby Daytona coupe with Kenny Brack and Tom Kristensen driving it, although that looked a real handful when the heavens opened, fishtailing all the way down the start finish line. Derek Hill (son of Phil Hill) starred in the Maserati Tipo 151 powering through the field as circuit dried but it couldn't match the GTO once it rained again, still 3rd was a great result for the car's Goodwood debut. The Breadvan ran well too up to 4th or or 5th (not quite sure) at the finish, it's superior balance was too much for the more powerful Cobras in the wet.
Thanks my camera is not ideal for shooting the cars while on track (or the planes in the sky), so had to quite heavily crop to get a decent(ish) photo.
as usual, some amazing cars over there. thank you for the pictures, they are amazing thank you as well, Streetrod for those lovely pics. That 250GT SWB looks fantastic in that colour. i really hope that there was a camera onboard Mason's GTO recording the race, like last year. can't wait to see all the action from Brundle/Hales prespective. from your description of the race and from this photo, it appears like it was one hell of a race Image Unavailable, Please Login

We published our race report and photos from the Freddie March Trophy race, among others. This race includes a 166 Barchetta, 857S, 750 Monza...you get the picture. Really strong field, not to mention the gaggle of C-Types. Hope you enjoy the photos taken by Tim Scott. http://www.sportscardigest.com/goodwood-revival-2011-freddie-march-trophy-race/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Saw this in the classic lot at Goodood on Saturday, 17 September. The body was GRP and I appreciate it is easy to stick Ferrari emblems on a car, but the rest of this was very "period" and looked authentic (i.e. proper wire wheels etc.) I could not see inside the cockpit (tonneau cover) not get a glimpes of the engine through the louvered bonnet/hood, so I have no idea of what the mechanicals might have been. Good job ! But once again, I'm surpised to see here, in the prestigious revival, this replica...None other real TR on the field ? https://picasaweb.google.com/116166221180333731371/GoodwoodRevival2011#5653064158688480210
More Tim Scott pictures from Goodwood, this time of the Sussex Trophy race for World Championship sports cars and production sports racing cars from 1955 to 1960. Ferrari entrants included the 246S Dino and the aforementioned 250 "TR57"...fans of Maserati 300S, Birdcage, Aston Martin DBR1s or D-Type Jags should also take a look. http://www.sportscardigest.com/goodwood-revival-2011-sussex-trophy-race/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
