    I have green wrench showing on the cluster.

    I went to the dealer and they quoted me this:

    458 – 1st Year Annual Inspection

    Service
    $ - Parts
    $ - Labor
    $ Total

    General Inspection
    -
    300.00
    300.00

    Engine Oil and Filter
    290.50
    225.00
    515.50

    Air Filter
    142.23
    75.00
    217.23

    Pollen Filter
    54.56
    75.00
    129.56

    Total
    -
    -
    $ 1162.30

    ================================
    This means labor is $75/Hr. It does NOT take 3 hours to do oil and filter change.
    It does NOT take 1 hour each to change the other stuff either.

    Oil and filter is NOT $290. I'm own a car parts manufacturing and distributing company so I do know.

    What do you guys think?

    Also, do you guys always take to Ferrari for service or is there any credible service centers?

    Would appreciate your answers...

    That's about what an F430 costs. To me, it's not out of line. I only serviced my car at authorized dealers because I think it helps give credibility to the next owner of what was done to it. It may also help if there is a warranty issue down the road.

    But, I live very close to a dealer so others may think it's not worth the effort.

    I bet their labor rate is $150 an hour. That would be an hour and a half for oil change and half hour for each filter.

    All dealers charge time for a job "from the book" -- which means from FNA. If FNA says it takes 1.5 hours to do an oil change, that's how long they say it takes. On the other hand, they have their procedures to the mechanics written down that must be followed and signed off on.

    BTW: this is true for a Toyota or Ford or Kia or Ferrari. All dealers quote "from the book". If you call one dealer and then another, the quote will be the same within a few dollars most likely. The only difference may be the actual dollar/hr rate which can vary from dealer to dealer. Some areas have lower overhead so they can charge less. Others may be in a high rent district or have to pay the mechanics more and have to pass those costs over in the customer.

    Trust me--- I used to have a factory authorized Maserati repair shop. We would submit to be paid by Maserati USA any warranty work. They had to sign off on it first before we could do anything. There's little flexibility here on what dealers can do. Many times we would complain that the time was too LOW to do the job. It didn't matter to them because they weren't going to pay one cent more than what was "in the book".

    Call a Merc dealer and ask how much it costs to do a yearly on one of their top AMG models. You'll see you're not being hosed by much.

    I had my Mini need front and rear brakes. It costs $1100 -- for Mini. Auto repair today is expensive.

    Is it more for Ferrari? Yes. But look around.

    I paid about that for my 15,000km service. It is overpriced but not as bad as I expected.

    I agree with this 100%. I was pointing out to the OP that the oil change is 1.5 hours, not 3. And if the book says 3 hours, then the dealer will change 3 hours.

    Thanks for your info. Appreciate it. I talked down to $969. They gave me some discount plus no sales tax since I have a company.

    By the way, your avatar picture... Is it you or Sylvester Stallone? It looks like him but if it's you, then you do look like him. ;-)

    It's called flat rating. A friend of mine worked at Toyota and was the dealers only authorized Auto Tranny repair tech. He got all the tranny repair work. He could "flag" 8-hours of work before lunch b/c he was so good, and had done it so much that he could do it in his sleep. And yes, he got paid for that 8-hours.

    All the long term mechanics also go to flag the new arrival check out work b/c they got 1-hour for each car. It would take MAYBE 15 minutes to go thru the 50-item check list (things like, tires are on the car, battery has charge, wiper blades are instlled, etc.).

    Oh, and before anyone suggest's it, returns on his work were virtually nill and he was one of the top mechanics at that dealer b/c he did it right and did it fast. His dealer loved him.

    the 2012 models all have 7 year maintenance free

    based on these numbers that is roughly 7k of annual services and 4k of a major service around 30k miles

    so the total package is worth 11k over 7 years

    not bad

    +1.

    Depends how much you drive it. theres no mileage limit on the 7 year deal. i for sure plan to drive it plenty i.e. 60-70k miles in 5 years at least. so the saving will be a lot more than that. ferrari have done the right thing by including this servicing in the cost now i think.

    My one year service, in Vancouver Canada, cost $855. Labour time 3.5 hrs. about $135 per hour. Cost breakdown: Labour cost was $472, oil filter, oil, washer fluid etc. was $290, taxes were about $92. Exchange rate of Cdn and US $ is near parity.
