Yep, looks like it's gone for good... I was in first before the last race, then went down to 3rd and I did good the last race, I wish I could see the results at least to see where it all ended....

Anyone have any ideas on a replacement?

The top 5 of us were very close (about 15 points between 1st and 5th) before the last race.
I don't suppose anyone has a printout or screen grab of the standings. I would be more then willing to calculate the results each race for the rest of the season for maybe the top ten people (though there was a decent gap between 5th and 6th, not saying they couldn't catch up), we would obviously have to skip Monza.
We could always start from zero, it would be like the chase :)

As I have no driver to root for, I need the tipping to make the races more exciting.

Yeah, the tipping and the other "leagues" i'm in definitely make it more interesting, I pretty much root for the people I pick, not even the people I like, or want, to win...LOL....

If I remember correctly though, the top 4 were closest, I remember #5 being a bit further down the road, but I could be wrong.... Do you know who the other guys were?

And if we did it by "hand" it would have to be by a post here on the board, either on this thread or a new one for picks only and the posts would need to be time stamped before quali.... Same format:

    Top 3 quali = 10, 8, 6 with a 3 for podium
    Top 3 race = 10, 8, 6 with a 3 for podium

    Fastest Lap = 10
Last Finisher = 10 (sometimes hard to determine)
Number of finishers = 10 (also sometimes hard to determine)

Either Quinella = 15 (top 2 in any order)
or Trifecta = 65 (top 3 in exact order)

And I don't remember how they added "league points" do you? or should we leave that out?

If you haven't figured out by now, I'm game :)... Let's work it out, we have only a few days.

Before the last race, I was in 5th, 15 points back. After the last race (not including Monza) I was tied for third, 13 points back. So I don't know if the guy I passed fell far back or not, it couldn't have been too far unless maybe he did not get his picks in.
I do know the next guy back was maybe 40-50 points back (maybe more??).

I don't know if it matters who plays as long as there are not too many people (even though, obviously one of us would have won :) )

The league bonus was just 2 points for being in a league. You also get one point for a wrong pick in the qualy and race results. The rest of your points are correct. All the results were taken from F1.com, so the number of finishers etc. are whatever they say (I know I have been screwed numerous times by the fact that once they reach 5 laps from the end, everyone is a finisher even if they crash, odd).

So if the 2 other people who were top 5, or the 7 other people who were top 10 (besides HWJunkie, GarySF and myself (QVB2)) want to play out the season, make yourselves known here and then we should probably make a separate thread(?). If everyone knows how many points back they were we can go from there. I know 1st (zero back) 3rd and 4th (13 back). I am betting second is in between those two.

Maybe Rob has some knowledge of who was playing and maybe who was doing well??

OK, so I guess it was after 5th that there was big dropoff, so I say we go with the top 5 unless someone knows who had what points after the last race...

So you were in third (I was rereading the earlier post), was I correct that you were 13 points back?

I am fine with the top 5.

I was in 3rd, I don't think I was 13 points back though, I seem to remember it being less than 10... I was mad that I didn't get the bonus for 10 points which would have made me 1st, but, I don't know 100%

    OK, my bad.
We are not really seeing anybody jumping in yet, but there is still time.

Was the deadline before practice 3 or before qualy? I always submitted before practice 3 so I never paid attention to that.

Practice 3 is at 4am Saturday (PST)
Qualy is at 7am Saturday (PST)

I think it was just anytime before quali starts, so as long as the post with the tips has a timestamp before quali starts, it's good.

Maybe Rob can remember the names of the people in the top 5?

And Rob would have to put up the picking thread maybe in a sticky so it's at the top, and it should be for picks only, any comments etc, should be done on this thread.

OK, so I see that we have one, two , umm,... two. Ok so we are good to go.
I know there is still time.
GarySF, are you here? (should we PM him)

On a separate note, and not anything to do with our continued competition, you said you did well at Monza, did you actually have Button on your list? I am just wondering as he seems to be a longshot, but lately has been scoring.
I did OK considering there was no way anyone would have picked the correct number of finishers and that I would never put Button on my list.

    I had:

    Quali:
    Vettel (correct)
    Hami (wrong)
    Alonso (correct)

    Race:
    Hami (wrong)
    Vettel (podium)
    Alonso (correct)

    18 finishers (wrong)
Ricciardo Last (he is listed last but has an NC, not sure what that means)
Fastest Lap: Hami (I think he had fastest lap)

    Bonus:
    Vettel
    Hami
    (wrong)

In the Qualy, you had Vettel correct and Hami correct and Alonso wrong.
Based on the NC and the fact that Planet F1 has him out with an accident much earlier, I am thinking Ricciardo is probably incorrect, but I am not sure.

So you scored either 31 or 41.
I had 38, so we would still be quite close.

Right on Quali, I shorted myself..LOL

Ricciardo went out in the beginning and came back and I believe he finished the race, that's why he doesn't have a ret. next to his name.

But either way, we are close, what place were you in before the race?

I was in 4th, 13 points from the leader.

The NC is for Not Classified, but I don't know how they score it on the tipping since he did finish.

Half way between you and I is Manhattan Beach. At the end of the season, we meet there, loser buys cupcakes and coffee. If anybody else joins in, the deal is off (unless they are local).

I was in the top ten, not exactly sure where, maybe 6 or 7 when the site crapped out.

Don't recall my tips from last race either.

Just more than a little annoyed, I skipped last season, finally get re-hooked on this and the guy's site takes a dump.

    go figure.

    Hey Dave,
Yes, you were definitely in the top 10.
We are not trying to count Monza, we were just discussing.
We are going to keep playing, probably start from zero. We will see who else shows up by Friday night.

Does anyone know the Top 3 after the last race? If it doesn't come back online tonight then we'll just count the results at that point. Of course either way will use something different next year.

    Hey Rob,
Based on what we have been discussing on here, Gary SF was in first, HWJunkie was in third.
I thought I was tied with 3rd but HWJunkie says he was less then 13 points out of first, so maybe I was just 4th, as I am sure I was 13 back from 1st. Nobody has spoken up about 2nd.
Of course this is all just hearsay.

HWJunkie and I are continuing on with the tipping, with anyone else who would like to participate, in a separate thread.

I'm quite sure i was in top three after Spa, atleast i got top scores for Hungary (31) and Spa (57). If Gary SF was in first and HWJunkie was in third that leaves me the second place.

Does all this matter? Are there prizes in this abbreviated season anyway? Hopefully next year's site will be more reliable.

I will honor the FChat prizes as of last race F1 Tipping was up. Did we figure out the last Top 3?

Now is best time while fresh in our minds to pick a system for next year. What are the options?

I apologize F1 Tipping went down, I had no control, but it seemed like the last year things started going downhill. We might have been the only users left. :)

Remember when Yahoo UK did fantasy F1, they were good at it.
