so you are talking about #00396....
1977 was this Dino exported into the USA and is still around.
No, I don`t know the Flammini`s but love to see pictures from the car from the 1970`s in Nocciola Met.
    Do you have any pictures?
    Regards Matthias

My uncle and Maurizio are close friends. Used to see him racing at Vallelunga. Very different times...

I'll check with my dad next time I visit him but I don't remember any pictures of #00396 - I've been looking forward to (and dreading) a huge session with a scanner and piles of Kodachromes...

Here's a note from the current owner:

Yes, 00396 is alive and well. It's road trips are about 10 miles; thus, will not be getting to the Bay Area anytime soon.

The sale of this car was brokered by Michael Sheehan who represented a guy from Phoenix. He'd beaten up the car and had a lot of work done by a guy in Costa Mesa. Mechanically, it's in pretty good shape. Unfortunately, the guy who imported this car from Italy, a guy who lived in Three Rivers, CA, did a lot of curious and disturbing stuff to the exterior; removed bumpers and powder coated black the remaining chrome, changed gas tank filler tube and cap, removed trunk button, changed interior. My plan is to someday have the car professionally restored; it is truly a classic and deserves this.

Because of the book I was too busy to proceed with the restauration of #00306.
While the printing firm and the book binder`s are on the case to finalise the book now, I took 3 days off to finally dismantle the Dino. Except of running gear and some glass fibre panels everything has been taken out. The middle frame tube is half gone, otherwise no further surprises. Beginning of February next year the car will go as it is to a body restoration specialist nearby Modena.

Thank you for the photos Matthias. Interesting to see the differences between a 206GT and a 246GT. Center frame tube looks bad, but we all know that those Modenese can do everything. Fantastic to see this car resurected.

I just figured out, that the central locking hubs can be bend apart into two pieces.
That`s advantageous when rechroming the stuff.
    :)

Matthias, I am impressed about the corrosion.
Can you imagine how many Dinos out there have the same issues, and are being driven?
    Scary.

I just disassemble the levers of #00306 for choke, air intake, heating...
The problem I´m facing is to remove the black plastic knop. I need to do this because I want to rechrome the lever. The knop is to tight, can`t remove it.
Are there any reproduction of the knob available?
    Regards Matthias
PS: Paul, how did you do it?

    Matthias,

Cover the rubber button with a cloth then grip it with long nosed pliers and gently twist it from side to side. This should release it. It worked on mine. Superformance sell good quality replacements if required.

Just pull up on the knob and it will come off. Even if you destroy it they are readily available.

A small pot with some almost boiling water should do it nicely. Then, tea time...

Your knob looks to be of the shiny variety. Most of the newer ones I have seen are matte finish. The NOS ones I have came in a Pinninfarina bag.

    Was the tea good?:)
You can shine up the toggles with plastic rubbing compound and they will come out great.
After the chrome, epoxy them back.
