This is a stupid question for sure. But, can the OEM wheels be Chromed? I just love chrome. Kinda old school yes. But that's me. But it just looks so cool when the sun's hitting them at 100 MPH!

Magnesium alloy can be chrome plated, in that you can get the chrome to stick to the wheel, but, it'll be porous and will knacker your wheels since they will corrode faster than you can say 'galvanic decomposition'

I wonder if there's a chrome 'wrap' that can be put on, rather than chroming them... might be a good alternative.

The process you seek is called goodrich permastar chrome, there are others too, but they are not as good.

It is a process similar to powdercoating, I have a set of wheels done a few years ago when the process was pretty new and it is impressive, paint that looks exacty like chrome but does not effect the metal and does not add any weight.

It is also guaranteed not to peel or flake forever.

I agree, some kind of 'Chrome' paint or coating would be the way to go.

Try 'deception chrome' from 'specialist paints' apparently not the easiest paint to apply but a great alternative to real chrome if you feel you must do it.
