Respectfully, you are presenting an entirely specious line of argument.

Firstly, you should evaluate a person's postings based on the merits of the postings, not on your perception of what car(s) the poster may or may not currently own or has owned in the past.

Secondly, there is no way for you to verify what a person claims to currently own or has owned in the past. It's the Internet. Do you really take as Gospel everything a person claims? So what difference does it make what a poster writes in their profile? For all you know, the poster could be writing to you from inside cell block H in the Joliet Correctional Center.

Thirdly, the mere fact that a person owns a Ferrari (or any other car, for that matter) in NO WAY qualifies them as having any expertise in any subject. In fact, I have noticed a distinct correlation between the price of a vehicle and the utter automotive ignorance of the owner. People buy expensive, flashy cars for lots of reasons, many of which have absolutely nothing to do with a genuine automotive passion or knowledge. Frankly, it's a good bet that any 20-something greaser you find busting his knuckles wrenching on a Camaro or Mustang at the local drag strip on any given weekend knows considerably more about automotive-everything than does the owner of an exotic.

Conversely, a person does not have to own a Ferrari as a requirement to present a valid opinion or perspective. By your line of reasoning, a person would have to be a law enforcement officer to have a valid opinion about crime prevention; or be a teacher to have a valid opinion about the educational system; or be a soldier to have a valid opinion about national defense.

Lastly, we have the issue of personal privacy. I've put exactly as much information on my profile as I want to disclose. Nothing more, nothing less. I respect that other posters have different comfort levels. Some choose to disclose every last morsel of their personal lives, including pictures of their homes, cars, wives, girlfriends, children, etc. (Personally, in the crazy, insecure world in which we live today, I find that choice to be quite cavalier.) Others choose to disclose absolutely nothing. Neither choice is either "right" or "wrong."

    I concur with Infidel

along a similar vein, I have difficulty with enthusiasts taking photos of our cars as we use them and posting their sightings to the internet as if were a trophy... it's in the public domain to take the photos, but things get sketchy by posting on the internet, at least the tags are blocked out... there is a point where privacy is intruded on

If anyone can swing it, it's you!

I'm sure there are companies looking to penetrate new markets . . .

Or at least get some exposure . . .

Indeed, there is stiff competition out there . . .

    ... who Napolis is?

Seriously. Do you have any idea?

Believe me. He is NOT soliciting ANYTHING. He doesn't need to. It was a fake website. A joke.

He is the ONLY guy on the board who was personally asked by Ferrari if he wanted to design his own Ferrari (at a cost to him of over $5 million, which didn't hurt his pocketbook in the least).

    Google P4/5.

    Or, Google Jim Glickenhaus

Really... you don't have any idea who you're 'dismissing'... you might want to do a little homework first.

It's really bad form to strike out at someone of Jim's stature within the Ferrari community when you only have 15 posts on the board... AND you're profile is blank.

Now you are just looking silly, brudda....

    That's him.
    That's his office.
    That's his phone.
    He answers it.

You really don't have to be "careful" about anything, as he is a nice and genuine person, in my experience.

It supports my earlier post in this thread, in which you stated "money and secrecy go together".

That's only true perhaps, if you are trying to hide how you earned it.

There is an error in the info above describing the making of P4/5.
It was a joint venture with Pininfarina, based upon a car Napolis purchased and provided.
Ferrari had nothing to do with the project and it certainly wasn't an "invitation"....

Maybe he will describe the helicopter visist with Luca again, for those that didn't follow that thread.

Look, I get YOUR point, as Houston is FULL of 'secretive" Ferrari owners....local oil barons, international money flowing in from God knows where.......FoH cares for them all.

The guys that get out and rub elbows seem to have a little more fun.
I'm sure the ones hiding in their megamansions do too.
