Thank you My Brother. The windows do come with your new removable top for sure. Sorry I forgot to cross the T. After the color match and paint to your new removable hard top, your body shop needs to install the pre-fit windows (tinted) for the perfect fit. Just a bit of glue while the top is locked down for the PERFECT FIT during installation.
Excellent work. Tim, where abouts in Ontario are you? EDIT: Actually, I just checked your website and saw that you are in Burlington
Hummm Interesting. I assume the canvas top needs to be removed? or does this somehow fit over a retracted top? What padding is being used where the base of this top meets the body paint of the car? How much does this.... weigh? .....cost? Is there a picture of this thing actually installed on a car?
Prices are on the website under the accessories section... apparently, no need to remove the canvas top. DF
^^^ WOW - $11000 for the top... I have to say that I have gone from disinterested, to interested, to can't afford...
Thanks guess I was too lazy to look it up myself. $16,999 for the carbon fiber top. Ouch. The baseball cap is $15.95 though...wonder if you get a free one with the purchase of a top?
It fits perfectly over the retracted top. Approx 1/8 strip of high density foam. The weight painted with the windows installed is approximately 40-50 lbs. The price is $10000.00. The first one is on F-Mans (Jeff) car and can be seen on www.jetttops.com
The price is $10000.00 boys For $10000.00 you now have a Spider and a Berlinetta. In previoous posts, many 355 owners could not tell the difference.
I would wager that if the price was lowered, the increase in sales would easily make up for it. Just thinking out loud - no offense intended. Really nice product!
The top for the 355/348 is not a product for everyone. It started out as a project to see if it could be done. The very concept was impossible at 360 degrees> everyone told me it could not be done. If you take a look at say, a carbon fibre diffuser for the f-430 your at $6000.00. A set of carbon fibre airbox covers?, $2000.00. These products were copied and formed from existing products. This removable hardtop is a stand alone engineered design build. The developement of it was born of true passion for the the car. The commercialization of it was secondary. In my opinion the 355 Berlinetta is the most beautiful F-car, the profile of the spider IMO, is ugly yet a 355 with the top down is IMO the pinnacle of the driving experience. If you are breaking a sweat when your service interval is due, then the top is not for you. If you prefer the spider look to the B, then it isn t for you. If you have the passion for the two versions of the car, then you will be really happy with it.
Still dont know how the rear fender tops will hold out with that sitting on it, especialy rubbing at speed. But the product looks good with equil quality. No matter how much one sugar coats it, good luck with selling them at both the 10k and 17k prices.
how can you keep your canvas top on? looking at the early posts the top came off. can you put up some photos of the install on and off ? great work. i am just looking at the photo and i see the top is not there. can we see a car with the top not removed?
+1 , I think if you look back at the beginning of this thread, the canvas top does come off, If it doesn't than you are adding 50 LBS to the car, I'm not sure if I would like that.
The canvas top stays on for sure. (new brackets for fastening down and larger arcs under rear fins) Again, it is perfect. I have to get some more pictures up. I will do my best this week guys. Thanks for the questions. Keep'em coming. There are no dissapointments in this piece. Tim
How do you keep the top from scratching or rubbing the paint on the top of the rear fenders? I ask, because I have a hard top for one of my older cars, and the rubber and foam gaskets destroyed the paint underneath them over the course of just one winter.
Jeff's 355 had a bit of wear on the finish under the foam padding. He has had his top on and off for two summers and he drives his 355 ALL SUMMER LONG. (the edge of the top does not touch the paint) He rubbed the paint wear out with a wax and a bit of elbow grease. I'll find out what wax he used.
Wow! Great craftsmanship. Congratulations on getting this accomplished. Looks fantastic. Can this be installed on a 348 spider as well?
Another idea might be to place a layer of 3M vinyl on the paint where the rubber/foam from the top touches it...
Great question. I am going to try and get one on a 348 by weeks end or early next week. I will keep you posted.
