I am sure this has been asked so I am sorry if it is a repeat question. I have noticed that my car idles a tad over the 1k mark once warmed up. After driving for a while it seems to go up to around the 1200 mark (one mark over the 1K mark). Any ideas why the idle would tend to go up after a spirited drive? Is there a way to adjust the idle? Is this just normal? Thanks guys once again for your help.
Check resistance across your MAF's - they need tuning on occasion Gold Connectors - http://www.scuderiarampanteinnovations.com/solutions.html scroll down to gold connectors
No idea if it realtes to your car, but my 5.2 355 idled just a touch high when my alternator output dropped to 12V - apparently the ECU increases the idle to try and charge more.
At cold engine, I would start by unplugging the battery, then cleaning the MAF'S, all the connector contacts and both ECU's connectors with a good contact cleaner, reconnect the battery and finally reinitialize the ECU's, try it, it doesn't cost anything ....
I had the same problem and it was the fault of the accelerator pedal connection. It was a little stiff, and did not return completely. Try to move the pedal by hand backwards, if the idle returns to normal you know what you have to clean and lubricate.
i had that issue when trying to get my car smogged. after much troubleshooting and following the guide on my348.com i finally realizaed that one of the O2 sensors was slightly off spec. replacing it brought the car back to perfect 1050 rpm idle. just a data point, your issue maybe a different one.
