I miss mine. Only car I could go 10/10 on the streets in the city without putting myself of others to danger. Very good car as a first sportscar!

My daily driver has been a 1998 Ford Crown Vic since April 2000. It now has about 128,000 miles. Vic has the Handling Package, which places it somewhere between the base suspension and police suspension. When I was working, during nice weather, if things worked out properly, I'd drive my 1974 AMC Javelin. Now I take it out for fun instead of just transportation. It needs full restoration, and is my first project car. I have a lot to learn!

Replaced 996 (and short term Cayman) with W210 AMG six months ago. Great bang for the buck - comfy, fast, muscle car characteristics and space for family/friends. Here it is doing airport parking duty.

How is the 996 as a DD? I have a 2000 Lexus GS400 - fairly sporty but still a little stuffy. My children are getting a little bigger, but I still need a backseat. I'm now 43 and want something a little sportier...yet retain the ability to haul the kiddies to soccer.

I've heard the 996 has quality issues (I know almost every car does), but curious if the 996 is a reasonable DD candidate...

A 911 back seat is for amputated midgets and can only be used to haul your children if you only have one who can ride in the front seat, or they are VERY small.

One could ride in the front for sure. I agree though - it's a tough sell...just figured life's short, you know?

I could get a Corvette or something, but then I'd need another car just in case I have to haul the kiddies...

Here is my new daily driver! I just sold my daily Porsche 968 6 speed coupe that I loved. I needed something that was cool looking, fun to drive and able to accomodate 2 kid seats, here is what I came up with! I LOOOOVE this car! Its a 1991 Brilliant Red over black buffalo hides E34 M5 that has been ported & polished when the engine was rebuilt 2 years ago. Puts down almost 350hp to the rear wheels!! It hauls some booty and some kids.
    Enjoy the penultimate family truckster!

I daily drove a 99 996 up to 140K miles. Back seats were good for short rides and for < 5'4" height.

After 15 years of daily driving an e34 M5, e36 M3, e39 M5 and e60 M5 , I now have a 2010 Audi S5 Cabriolet. While the M cars were faster, the S5 is a much better daily driver IMHO. They look great with their Italian styling by Walter de Silva, superior build quality-fit & finish, are fast enough for fun on the street, are very luxurious, superb handling, better than average MPG, and the Quattro AWD is a bonus safety feature for foul weather. I am now an Audi convert and plan to move up to a new RS5 next year.

My Lab high speed run, to the symphony and errand mobile is the '25 turbo GT. With the rear seats removed, the 4 Boys [soon to be 5] love their Lab cave in the back. Madame kicks Sulla out of the co-pilot when she attends.

With the 21" winter wheels and Alpins, in rock mode, we have 9" of snow clearance - which us why we said bye to their '24 RS6 which started to plow in 4" of snow.

Both my dailies in one pic: at rear the '25 392 AEV Rubicon posted before, soon to be replaced by a '26 392 AEV, a superb bad rock track and deep snow rig: With Falken AT W's on 37"s we can easily do 18" of dry snow -pics previously posted.

Ignore Madame's dominant daily in foreground. With Alpins on she drives it into our 6 cold months, now only switching to he 22 RSQ8 with winter 22's for challenging snow depths, and her '25 Rubicon Xtreme when she hikes the Labs.

I had a yellow lab who used to love to ride in the car. She would always prefer to sit in the right rear seat.
