Got them yesterday! installed today. I add my pics for the cat replacement lovers among us. You need to count 1 big hour to deinstall first cat if you have never done it before. A lot depends on how willing the bigger bolts are near the engine. The smaller ones near the exit pipe were cooperating very well. Once all bolts removed, cat came out in 2 minutes after some wiggling. I will do the second tomorrow . I estimate it will only take half an hour now, once you now where everything is. I did not had to remove any other part to remove the cat appart from Lambda and temp sensor. I have added a more close up from that temp sensor. You can see some deposit on it already. Also took pic on inside of "old" one, it was COMPLETELY hollow as if there had never been a cat in it before (you can see right trough it!). Also a pic from inside of the new one. o and by the way, my biggest fan is also on the pic. I give him the honors as he is always there when i work on the car! Also added some pics to compare ferrari cats with pp cats. they fitted nicely, although it looked initially that it was longer in size. enjoy.

Hi Mike, great job!! If you'd still like to sell your stock cats, send a PM. I'm in SF and will pay cash.

Congrats on getting her buttoned up.

I just saw an NSX forum were Prospeed offered a group buy on high flow 200 CEL CATS for $699 a pair for minimum of 4 pairs, for that price I would participate in a group buy, would anybody be interested here as well? That is if Prospeed would be willing.

It's the innards. 200 cells per square inch. I think stock is 400 or more. Hence less back pressure.

In defense of PROSPEED. Yes they were slow. Maybe due to supply & demand? They did however keep me posted via email as to status. I like the product. Looks like a small guy doing good trying to make his way. Just my two cents.
I have a pair in my Fiorano (#19), and they work great!!

I have put 300+ miles on my "Prospeed" Cats with no CEL. Believe me, If I had a CEL issue I would post it ASAP! They sound great. And The beast wants to lurch at stop lights. I try to hold her back. Much to the horror of the car next to me.

Great write up and pictures. Since nobody else chimed in, I'm guessing the horror you found on the right side was that the inner boot is nearly gone completely.

Me too. But maybe we should see if Ricambi would make us a similar/competing offer on a pair of Hyperflows. I have a pair on my 348 from Ricambi. No CEL in 2 years, 1500 miles. Oh, and I had 'em in 3-4 days!

    Hi guys,

Just bought my first Ferrari...a 95' 355 with 13000 Miles on it for a great deal (probably because it's green, see photos) Anyway, it's in for a major service right now and I tought it would be the perfect opportunity to change the exhaust system to get a better sound.

The Manifolds, bypass tube, cats and exhaust muffler are all in great condition, no leaks, cracks and sound good with the original stock setup.

My idea was to get a topspeed PRO1 exhaust system from ebay and keep the original cats, bypass tube and manifolds "as is"

    see exhaust here:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-355-F355-GTB-GTS-Spider-Catback-Exhaust-System-/370548948360?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item5646703d88

Obviously, money is an issue but I'm thinking no matter how rich I become, I will struggle with spending 4k on an exhaust system so more than likely the tubi or capristo will never ever happen. My mecanic is reccomending that since I don't have much to spend on it after the major service is done & the fact that everything is in great shape, to leave it as is.

My questions for you guys are:

    -Does my idea make sense?
-Will the stock cats be ok and compatible with this exhaust or does it need high-flow cats or straight pipes
-Basically, can the exhaust only be changed or do I have to chaneg the other parts also? Will I get major sound improvement?

Any advice is greatly appreciated...I've searched the forums and have been unable to find the info. If you have a thread, please post the link(s)

    thanks

Car looks clean and a British racing green 355 is rare! I don't see why you can't just change out the exhaust and leave everything stock. High flow cats are great if you wanted a more aggressive sound and power while still being emissions compliant. If the cats hold up you can't wait later or do it all at once.

I just ordered the prospeed cats yesterday after failing inspection for HCO. The car had test pipes on.
I'll let you know how long they take to get, how easy they are to put on & what they do to the sound. I'll see if I can get some reasonable sound clips of before & after.

So, for a '95, where did folks order the gaskets/donuts from? What sizes & quantities?
    Thx.

    Hi,

just wanna let you know, my car passed emission tests with glory last friday!! actually had "zero" emission or almost..

have now driven 100km, no issues so far, maybe noice is somewhat dimmed but at 8000rpm still sounds like an orchestra on wheels.!!

    :))))))
    cheers!

I also have Tubi, but didn't need to loosen the muffler assembly. Instead, I loosened the rear diffuser (much easier) and the stock cat came right out. Many bolts and nuts can be loosened from the engine bay before you jack up the car.

I concur whole heartily - I, too have a cuts on both hands from hitting various metal parts and my shin is bruised from running into the jack...lol. The most difficult part for me was loosening and tightening the two upper portion bolts of the cat. I had to enlist my wife's help. If anyone else has a better method please do share.

I will have pictures and video clips once mine are done.
