Post #6657: On the left with red cap: Mark Arnold Tippetts and his 250 LM #5995 (ex-Colin Crabbe) and his Comp Daytona #14429 (ex-Dr. Mariani, which Tippetts bought on 11th July 1975 from Mariani), as well as the two Dinos #004 (of Dudley Mason-Styrron) and #030 (Tippetts). See last picture, taken at Dudley Mason-Styrron's home. At the time (late 1970s) Mark Tippetts worked for a company in the Arabian Gulf (Doha/Qatar), later in Asia. Mark Tippetts and Dudley Mason-Styrron were good friends and Mark had many of his Ferraris stored at Dudley's home near Farnham, Surrey, UK. The Dino 206 SP Spider #030 was road registered in California and Mark drove it on the road in the UK. Marcel Massini
Correct Marcel. Mark shared some amazing road stories of these cars with me. When he bought #20297 (owned by me now) it was delivered to Qatar according to some old files from the british Ferrari Club. After Qatar. From what I understand it went from Qatar to Switzerland. A dutch collector/dealer bought it from CH over a decade ago. He sold #20297 to another dutch collector/dealer and the last owner damaged the V12 badly. I bought it with the engine in pieces and rebuilt it over a 2 year period. Also mr Tippetts owned some other very special Ferraris, but I will leave that up to your own research skills gents
I knew Mark Tippetts and met him in the late 70s and early 80s, at the Nürburgring in Germany as well as in England (at the Mason-Styrron Estate). Among the cars Mark Tippetts owned was 365 GTB/4 #14047, the famous verde scuro 365 GT4 BB #17913 and later #18225, 250 MM Spider Vignale #0288 M and the ex-Pozzi-Thomson 512 BB LM #24129. Marcel Massini
And do not forget the stunning 500 Superfast #6673. To all of these amazing collector cars his then daily driver 20297 looks pretty plain Marcel if you have any more info on this 400, I'll swap it for the road stories from the early 70ies he emailed me
In the last picture I like the one on the left. Seems to be really happy. just one man's opinion tongascrew
Some pretty funny photos from the 1973 Targa Florio practice, run with the roads open as can be seen. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2012-Chicago March 2012 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, it was red, and I remember in the late 80s Mark and passenger arriving at a FOC Concours in the 365 California. The top was down, and both were wearing red leather flying helmets. I wish I had a photo. Nathan
A new F-Chatter (Roy Spencer) shared these amazing priceless old pics of his childhood It's worth the look http://www.mercedesheritage.com/2011/ferraris-in-monterey/ I hope Roy shows and tells us more of his tales
Marcel, I'd done a painting of Mark's California back in the '70s when he was living in Dubai. Many years later he told me his wife/girlfriend had thrown it out. Seems he had kept it wrapped in the shipping material and she assumed the wrapping was just trash. Something Freudian there. CQ
