I like the attached letter on the top, with the reference to the 'regular' Countach of the 70's :).

    Sure, agreed.

But, special cams happened, as the documentation I have supplied shows, and I believe there are others here on FChat that have looked at them. They can comment if they feel so inclined...

LOL. I have learned one thing: documentation always exists, you just have to find it, and if you look hard enough in the right places, you will. Yes, 80s QVs had tuned engines too: Martini, Rosberg et al. I dont think "many" cars have claims to tuning, very few actually.

Chassis Number 1121026 is this German market Red car with Tan Leather interior, currently believed to be residing in D .

It has the following modifications from the standard european model on offer at the time of manufacture: Bravo Wheels, Formula One steering wheel, rear wing electronically adjustable from the drivers seat and a competition fire extinguishing system (type T-3), Front Impact bar (no foglights)..

Other Information: The car cost DM135,000 plus 12% tax. Purchased from a museum in Arizona, USA around 1993 and since then in Japan..

I only read it in Countach books but I don't remember it ever being discussed in this forum.
    Nice feature though.

I would say it was once registred in switzerland as well since that time there was no homologation in Germany, so many german owner bought their cars through Lambo Motors and drove them with the swiss plates with the Z at the end.

    #1121102 has the same Wing.

Here Johl's car wearing swiss plates BL 151-Z if I remember correctly.

Walter Wolf's 1121002 also had an electronically adjustable rear wing installed in the car by the factory, a few months before the same special-order for your car. You will note that Armin Johl was a friend of Walter Wolf so its not surprising he requested this. I do not know of any other Countach with this installed by the works at new. Please feel free to contact me and I will put you in touch with Armin Johl. He is still in Germany in Offenbach. I would be surprised if he does not have a detailed file on this car with factory letters & documentation of the upgrades completed by them. At any rate he should be able to confirm the car's original status, and I think there may be some things revealed that possibly even you are not aware. Hope this helps.

    Best,

    20 years?
I can remember the car being for sale about 6-8 years ago and then being sold to germany where this picture was taken, I saw the car in that barn.

Will you listen to detailed content to the person himself?
What did you custom-order in new car those days?
An engine, availability of traffic facilities, engine system.
A fire extinguisher, a radio machine gain it, but I heard that I used it for F-1 PACECAR at first, but will the purchase be true?
Would the beginning get Formula One steering wheel?

    Thanking you in advance.

Sorry, I was adding some Payton comments to my post and withdrew it to elaborate. I mean it left the USA 20 years ago, and yes, you are right, it was for sale and this pic was taken in the barn circa 2004. Do you know where it is now?

    Ken:

I belive this is the car. The car now languishes in a certain state of disrepair after moving abroad some 20 years ago. Wing & Gotti wheels are long gone... Blu Acapulco it still is.

I also read that when he retired from football he competed in the Trans-Am series as a driver and was part owner of Payton-Coyne Racing which ran cars at the Indianapolis 500. Her he is in his number "34" circa 1988.

Since you bring it up, yes he was a great guy.

Aaah. My notes say Payton sold the car circa 1991 so I assumed it left then. Im still not 100% its Payton's car, but I bet it is. At any rate Peter's papers will tell the story. Ive e-mailed him already.
