does anyone run their 355 with a tubi and leave off the upper heat shield...such a shame to cover it, but too much heat is a bad thing too, does the tubi give off as much heat as a OEM?

Don't do it...I would suspect you will dramatically heat up the air boxes. That means heating up the incoming air to the engine...not good for power. Plus, all the rubber intake hoses and the plastic MAF will take a beating from the heat as well.

I know what you are saying, not only that, but the heat shield itself is the ugliest piece of....

When the tubi changes color, you wont want to look at it anymore. The heat shield is there for a good reason.

Nonsense, at that point it is time to remove it and have it re-polished :)

Maybe someone will make a nice heatshield out of hi-temp glass...

I would be interested. I'll drop the seller an email and put it out there. He also sells some nice stainless cv heat shields.

I know what you mean about the stainless tubi changing colors not as pretty, but on oxidized stainless you can mix 50/50 water and muratic acid, put it in an old spray bottle. spray the stainless down wait 2 minutes wipe off then hose off and walla shiny again

Have you actually tried this? I just had my fabspeed cats out which were developing some surface oxidation, I used pickling paste on them which brought them out like new -

I just sent a message to the seller asking him about a group buy. I would think if the $ price was right a whole lot of 355 people would want this. Me included. Since it goes over the original cover it will make it look much cleaner. And may provide extra shielding.
    I'll keep yall informed.

I think if one were to line the underside with more heatshield material and maybe even sndwich one of those heat mats in between this and the stock heatshield, it may cut the heat going into the airboxes even more.

One could wrap the air intake boxes and tubes with insulating material. (forget how it looks) Wow, did I just think of that? Engines like cold air. Probably why my old muscle car ran so strong in Minnesota!

May I speak for the masses here. We like them! But we feel the price is a tad too high. I am confident that the interest level will be HIGH. How about a discount for a group buy? That's the way we roll here. Regards, Michael.

I would think this piece would be hugely popular in the $200+ range. Even in mild steel or aluminum.
