Yes thats exactly what I was thinking. If you guys want to do something. Buy a good can of satin black paint and respray the original shielding. It will come out like new again. Jamb in that metal thingmajig is only asking for another source to rattle and it wont look like a 355 engine bay anymore.

 

I like the look of the metal cover, count me in on group buy of the price is right.

 

We are all in agreement that your shields look good. I think the consensus is also that the price is a little high for what it is -

You would sell a whole lot of these if the price came down, this is what we are trying to say without sounding harsh.

This would be a hot seller at around 200 bucks. I would for sure pull the trigger!

 

As was said already...yes you need the heat shield, I took mine out while tinkering and got CEL's for heat soak.

Sorry not trying to compete with the stainless....just a different solution I came up with for the ugly OEM

More on topic, the thing that I believe would really help the heat issue here would be ceramic coating the muffler and all the exhaust components, it is on my list.

I could care less what someone bolts in an engine bay for fashion points. My reply to Gerry, re. post #4, was referencing the complete removal of the heat shield because it is 'ugly'.

As you and many others know full well, I have zero fashion class or place in a thread discussing aesthetics or styling decisions some make, Niki reminds me of that daily. My only concern if for the function and longevity of the mechanical components in the engine bay. Beyond that someone could paint their engine Pink and it wouldn't make a whit's worth of difference to me.

I would really like to see some CV joint shields that offer better coverage than the oem units. Anyone care to fab something up?? If they fit and have the proper clearances, I would most certainly be up for a set.

 

Since the exhaust is hidden anyway, I had wrapped my exhaust with headerwrap. That is a much better insulator than a thin ceramic layer...ceramic is better for the headers IMHO. I coated the Fabspeed headers inside and out...AND have some fabric insulation wrapped around the straight pipe section. I'm nuts about heat transfer

 

You are absolutely correct, one better would be to ceramic coat the stuff, heat wrap it and then paint the wrap with VHT exhaust coating.

This would really help the 355 under hood temps.
