I'm actually a Creative Director/Publisher and you're off to a great start with your outline. If I might make one suggestions it would be to move the ad you have in the middle of the magazine to the inside-back cover. That will both appeal more to an advertiser and be a more conventional/professional approach to the pagination.

Oh, one more little thing...might want to move your event coverage way up after your editorial. It's a nice way to ease into a magazine and, again, a matter of convention...not that you need to be held to any;-)

If you could get a mailing list of as many 308/328 owners as possible you'll have a decent little business case.

My wife would like to do a Dear Abby type of column that addresses mental disorders and things like that which afflict and are peculiar to Ferrari owners. She is a licenesed therapist and could handle topics like: should I rebuild this or buy it new? or My girlfriend whom I have been dating doesn't like my car, what should I do? Is it okay that I look at my car alone for hours in the garage? You know stuff like that.

Doesn't every 308 owner spend at least a couple hours sitting behind the wheel in the garage making engine noises?

    From Dear Abby;
Gentelmen, the fantasy sitting in your garage is "perfect" in that she never talks back, loves to be washed and caressed, ever so carefully I might add. She will just flash and make others very jealous of the attention she will get in public. The four openings in the rear are very suggestive I might add and a woman could never compete. And, her only complaints (breakdowns) require your immediate attention which she craves. And, best of all she is non-verbal until you are driving her with enthusiasm and then you are assured that she isn't faking. Those sounds are real. If my husband was like this I would stare at him all night, especially in the garage.

Great idea, especially the GT4 recognition. What would really be nice are humorous submissions on our lives with the Ferrari disease and its impact on others; wives, girlfirend, friends etc. Humorous inclusions would be a good thing [almost sounds like Martha Stewart there] because it would show we aren't a bunch of F car snobs but just seriously afflicted motor heads who can laugh at ourselves and have a good time.

You could also put in a section on "Roads to Run". Highlight a european and a US route in each issue with plenty of photos , sites to see and places to eat. This could become a great travel guide which might result in enough interest in the routes that area 308ers will plan a gathering and run the highlighted route. In subsequent issues you could run a follow up piece on the running.

I really don't think there would be a shortage of materials. Just make it well rounded covering as many aspects as possible of the car world we are in.

Needless to say, even though I'm modifying my GT4, I'm in.

I like the idea. Keep the title as "308 Magazine"...very catchy...and of course include the whole family. An "advertizement" or "for sale" section would be interesting too.
I like reading "letters" in other magazines, so make sure you have one too.
would the magazine be in a "pdf" format? so we can print it? also, a tech section is a must. What about interviews with well known ferrari mechanics? I am sure they would be interested in talking about their carrers....I suggest Ferda in Houston, and David Moore in Austin, to name just a couple...It's a good way to get good content and they advertise their skills too. I would be interested in subscribing for sure. Good luck.

I love the idea, and I like the layout. The possible covers you posted look great. The photography alone would be enough to make me a subscriber.

BUT: A suggestion. I noticed some errors on the covers. I understand that they are only proposals, but I hope that you will be very careful with the spelling and grammar. I know that there are those who say that spelling and grammar are not important, but to me, a magazine with any errors at all just looks unprofessional.

If grammar and spelling are not your strengths, bring somebody on board to edit the writing.

"Maintaine" should be maintain and "For Enthusiast Only" should be "For Enthusiasts. . ."

Some people will surely call me a picky old man; others will say I'm just being an *******, but I think that spelling and grammar actually are important, and careful attention to detail can make or break a magazine.

I really like the idea of a dedicated Ferrari (308) mag. I would also subscribe as I think it can be a very helpful tool. I however think it should include the Boxer 512BB, 512BBi and the Testarossa as they all share the same basics and come more or less from the same time frame. Then you have more subjects to cover giving the magazine more appeal for a little broader but well funded audience.

I think peope like Newman's contributions (to name but one) to the 308 and Boxer fraternity is invaluable and will fill a couple of mags. Hope he will make his articles available........
