Hi Guys, A few of the Socal guys are coming out to the SEMA show in the beginning of November. Any Vegas F-Chat people want to meet for a beer and maybe a trip to NoDoubt's drift center? (Not sure if the beer comes first or second.) I'm coming in on Wednesday 11/2 and going to the show on Thursday 11/3. Probably driving back to L.A. after the show is over. I know JC550 (John) will be there all week, Sandyeggo (Rick) will be there part of the week, Anxpert (Enrique) is probably coming out the same time I am, and possibly Monteman (Monte.) Please add to this thread if you are going to be around that week and want to meet up! -Greg
Yes, sounds like a plan! Heading up either 11/1 (Tue) or 11/2 (Wed) - I might take the car, might fly, not decided yet. Anyone else planning on driving up? Lots of great areas for a run (Lake Mead, Mt. Charleston, etc) - food for thought. U-Drift? Gun Store? Sapphire's? Just thinking out loud!
I'm driving up, but leaving the 355 at home. (Drove it there last year though.) Enrique was thinking about a Wednesday night outing to NoDoubt's Drifting track. There's a thread going on in the Silver forum about that. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=341015
Eric, I'm on the same page flying or driving ... from Oceanside it is about a 4:30 Drive to Vegas, almost the same as the whole flight process, so if your driving ...at least two F cars, maybe three with Monteman and drive in with Greg ?
I'll be there through the optima battery challenge. I'll be working in booth 24901 in the central hall for Lingenfelter Performance Engineering stop by and say hi during the show. I'd also be happy to meet up after hours.
I am in town for SEMA from Wed 2 to Sun 6. I am staying at Planet Hollywood but I will be carless. Happy to fit in with my USA F-Chat buddies (I'm from the land downunder, Australia).
Lookin' good for a SEMA show get-together! I will send Fchat member NoDoubt an email about meeting at his U-Drift location on Wednesday November 2nd in the late afternoon/early evening. The plan would be to do a drifting session or two, then head somewhere for a beer. Sound good?
Hi Isaac, I sent No Doubt a PM but did not hear back from him. I'm going to call U-Drift tomorrow to see what their hours are next Wednesday. As far as dinner is concerned, I'm open to suggestions but not really interested in waiting with the crowds at the casino restaurants. I've been coming to SEMA since 1989 so nowadays I just want to find a place off the strip that the locals recommend. Anyone have suggestions for grub and beers?
Wow! I like it. Big slabs of beef. Jerry's Nugget Restaurant: 1821 N. Las Vegas Blvd., North Las Vegas Anyone else want to throw in a suggestion?
We will be entertaining VIPs at the house throughout the week, if time permits and you are willing to leave the strip, maybe we can plan a BBQ ?? Some Pix... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Me too. I'll bring the PBR. If you are serious, let us know. Like most people who go to this thing for work, I have mandatory meetings and handshakes throughout the week. I will need to coordinate. Jay PS, Stackhouse, I am sure you have access to a SEMA pass, but if not, I can "get you on the list"
This will be my 4th year, looking forward to seeing some nice cars as usual. Also have plans to do the Exotic Driving thing at the Speedway on Friday. Anybody ever done it before?
I test drove a 458 there. Be careful... I bought one the next week! It's fun. There are some restrictions and a co-driver is telling you what to do. It's pretty organized which surprised me. But, for the 5 minutes on the track, it could take a couple of hours of waiting depending on the crowd. My thinking is that with Sema that weekend, there could be quite a crowd. My suggestion is go online and book a specific time and car. You'll still have to wait but it will be shorter than just showing up. The speedway is a long way from the city. You can book a limo service or take a cab. But, it's a good 30-40 minutes north of the strip. In the same area is the Shelby museum and No Doubt's drifting course. That's pretty good value for money because you get to abuse his cars for a good 20 or 30 minutes and let him worry about it! I also suggest you get more than the minimum 5 laps at Exotic Racing. The first lap is just finding out the track and the last is a cool down. You really don't get much time in the car with only 5. Also, a lot of people upgrade to have the in car video. It's of questionable value unless you really want a keepsake. You have to wait about 20 minutes after your done to get the CD. However, I would recommend Exotic if you want to get inside one of these cars with the least amount of hassle and money. When the Mclaren gets there, I'm going again. I can't see any other way I'd be able to drive one.
Wed,Thursday afternoon or evening may be best times to entertain a BBQ. Keep in mind we are in Boulder about 20 min from the strip, but well worth the drive, trust me
