Help.... big time

What a shame man. All you can do is move on from it and let the anger subside. Finding a great mechanis is important. I'm a self wrencher and love it but when it comes to the really tough stuff or diagnosis, I rely on a great mechanic in NH (David Feinberg) that I met here on the boards.

 

Sorry to hear of your headache, but there is a cure: Sportauto!

+1 to Furio's replies about Sportauto - Bill and Shaun are the only people I trust implicitly with my 328, as I have since Bill PPI'd my car in 2008. As you've already discovered they'll spend time w.you on the phone even if you haven't spent a dime with them, and will root sh** out until a problem is resolved. They had my car recently after another shop out of state did a recent major, and you'd think after a major a car would be running in top shape right?

I got it back running like it was a new car.

Anyway go see Bill and Shaun. They will fix you.

 

Intermittent fuel pump:

I had that on my '83. It was causing a hot start problem. It took quite a few shops & visits to figure it out.

I've visited Black Horse. I have no personal experience, but I thought it looked like a well run shop with some serious restorations going on. Sorry to hear you had trouble.

 

Don't worry. You will be in good hands. One of the best around.

 

That's really disappointing to hear. As I said earlier, my experience with them was exceptional. I bought my Mondial from them, and they warranteed the car to be free from any oil leaks on a major they performed two years earlier. When the car turned out to have a minor leak from the gearbox pan, they picked the car up (approx 200 miles away) in an enclosed trailer, made the repairs and others they found "under warranty", including a failing clutch slave cylinder and roof toggle, and returned the car to my door within a week.

This was a few years ago and times change. Sorry to hear your experience differed from mine.

 

I really feel your pain. I just had a very similar experience with a shop here San Francisco. It's very disappointing when you know you've being taken for a ride from a reputable shop...or so you think.

 

I second this. Nothing worse thinking that you are in good hands with what you have been led to belive is an expert only to find out they are nothing more than a salesman with a big vocabulary and a huge mother f-ing ego.

What a kick in the balls it feels when you realize that you have been a sucker getting taken for many thousands of dollars. Even worse when you think there was a friendship in there.

When you do finally find a shop with true experts with real long term expertise whom don't bad mouth their competition every chance they get and you see what your HARD EARNED money gets you its quite a relief to know that the world isn't completely full of fast talking shizters.

Here's a hint do a search, and if you find out the previous shop was asking how to do basic mechanics in recent years, you will have a good idea that they may not be anything more than fast talking money grabbing jack offs.

 

They will get it running like new, first try. Sometimes it just pays to go to someone who really specializes.

Have you tried to get them to take back the new pump and refund your money? If they suspected a bad pump, did they hook up a battery and do a simple run test on it? No, they installed a new pump an charged you what...$500-600? Just because its an F-car, don't let them coerce you into rolling over for outrageous bills for things that don't fix it. Are shops there licensed? Is it time to contact state Consumer Affairs?

 

This video is hogwash... there is not any difference between 308 and 328 injection... they are both K jet from Bosch... if the pressures keep changing the couple of things can cause that... air leak, perhaps a binding pressure plate - Unlikely - or electrical issues - throttle position sensor etc..

My guess is its electrical, with maybe a crack in the o -ring on the throttle adjustment screw... that gets larger as it gets warmer but most likely will not cause a driving condition. check out the Ferrari service manual under FI -diagnosis.. its posted here in PDF somewhere.. if not pvt me and I;ll send you a copy.

 

I did not have as good of an experience with bill and the crew. Maybe it was a bad day but my shift shaft seals are still leaking literally one month after getting the car back. Did I mention how long it took for a major? What about the missing screws and the incorrect hose clamps...that was correct before the major! You guys should see the amount of permatex sealant that was around the water pump, since Bill had to do it twice. Looks like a monkey went to town with it. Did I mention the use of one incorrect bolt on the rear engine hinge that I later found bouncing around in the engine compartment. The coolant flush that was not completely flushed...now it looks like muddy water. The list goes on...

Oh and whomever's 308 that was there when I had mine done...well he picked me up from the train station with it...in the rain...that later sat outside...in the rain...for at least a few hours.

All I have to say is...GLWS (good luck with service)!
