That is a very cool view! Was is also Luca that held his ?cellphone? camera with him while driving part of Spa?
Very cool! Would love to see this in races! Maybe teams won't like it though? Potential privacy issues?
he said, that he had to drive with only one eye, because the camera was in front of the other. so, no, we won't see this camera in racing.
I believe you are correct! Regardless, it's always a trip to drive and watch downforce cars. Just seems against what you believe to be understeering in a corner and mash the throttle to get more grip.
Yeap. It'll be a safety issue as well. I remember back in 2007(?), when the FIA testing by putting a camera on David Coulthard's chin? Brazil i think...
I think so--I remember there was a lot of talk in anticipation of that being rolled out for the next season's telecasts and...nothing. Remember when Indy/Champ/Whatever car used the in-helmet car for a season a few years ago. It was better in theory that in practice.
Very cool video although it does kinda remind me of driving my buddy's '82 C/E 'Vette (long nose and hard to find a proper apex).
What are you trying to say here, Coulthard has a large chin? lol Why not add a mini camera just over the visor? With a little testing, the visor would still be able to open and close easily enough.
IIRC, they did indeed try that a while back. The problem was it nauseated some viewers. The same thing apparently happened when the NFL tried a "cap cam" mounted on the umpires head - Our brains don't much like "head movement" when the head's not our own..... Cheers, Ian
That's pretty good, but the best video ever? I don't think so, go look at any 'Senna Monaco qualifying' video, or the Villeneuve/Arnoux battle from 1979 - those are the best ever. IMO of course. WOW!!! I found myself tensing, clenching and jumping in my seat! How did they not crash!?!?! Thank you for posting that.
The best thing about the Villeneuve/Arnoux battle? (apart from the on-track action): after the race there were no pointing fingers and accusations of unfair racing, both drivers laughed their socks off and described it as the most exciting racing they'd ever had!.
Any in-car qualifying from the 90's era cars just rule. I love Senna at Suzuka and the Berger / Mansell runs in the Ferrari 640 / 641 cars.
SWEET!!! McLaren MP4/6 with Honda RA121-E V12. Best looking McLaren F1 car ever! And yes, I know the 4/4 was more successful, but I don't care ;-) This one just looks better and with a V12 it can be nothing else but my favorite.
