As for the moment, who holds the highest mileage on their 458 Italia and how is it after well over a couple of thousands of miles? how's the reliability so far in terms of long-term use?

    Good question.

I'm curious to know what types of problems will plague the 458. I'd assume it would be something to do with the ten million electronic systems in the car.

Off topic - I wonder in general what the used sports car market will be like in another 15-20 years, with all the electronic systems cars have these days - so many things to go wrong with over the years. (I'm somewhat young and even I don't trust computers)

I doubt I have the highest mileage, but I do have over 5000 miles on mine. The only issue I have come across is a broken iPod cable. It is a long cable for such a tight storage space and mine got an intermittent break from being creased.

I'm showing 17,500 km after 11 months. No dealer visits for warranty items. Sometimes the front lift warning light comes on (very rarely) but it always cures itself.

Yes and it's a car that was first registered 05/2010. So many miles in about 1 yr., maybe it was used as a taxi :)

F chatter murcielago (Simon George) has done over 10,000 miles since this April. Follow his car in Fast Fleet in Evo Magazine.
He has over 200,000 miles on one of his murcielago’s if memory serves me right.

My 458 has 9600km and still perfect thanks God and drives like a crazy horse. Actually im driving everyday to work there is no such a problem with it. Even the sales person in Kuwait's Ferrari is telling the prospect about me.

one thing I've noticed so far, to those who drive their 458 everyday, normal driving that is, seems like the car doesn't show any problems but to those who use it like twice a month tends to have more problems. Guess Ferrari really wants new owners to drive it and not to garage it, pretty much a free advertising for Ferrari =)

Most everyday drivers on US roads with speed limits, traffic etc are driving the same way a Honda Or Toyota would drive, so of course with the car experiencing very little loads, problems are none existent. The other category of driver which takes the car out for a good solid drive on back roads or the track is experiencing much more issues. Majority of drivers will not even use half of this cars performance capability, the ones that are seem to be experiencing some major issues(brake failure, transmission failure etc).

I've driven mine for 7000kms since March. Very sporty driving though, high speed back country roads. And about a month ago the Power Steering pump failed. I would suppose it is mainly because the negligent "dealer" we have here decided that the fluid campaign wasn't as urgent.

Anyway, the car has been sitting in my garage waiting for ferrari to send a new pump.

I am curious to hear who holds the highest mileage record on 458 Italia currently... Its been long time since thread was active so I assume we can get some interesting (high) mileage reports now :)

I just recently went for some spirited driving with World Class Driving in Las Vegas Nevada.
They told me that they're 2010 Italia had over 130,000 miles on it before it was sold. They said that the car was pretty much bulletproof, and the miles were based on numerous drivers from all walks of life and ability. This would mean inconsistent speeds, occassional abuse, and drivers that have no care for the vehicle. Not bad for a supercar!

I think seldom driven will give more problem than often driven.
I just have 10,000 kms with high rev downshifts all the time, nothing so far.

10000 miles in 1 year, mostly at high speed in the mountains and also on track. Even used winter tires and drove on snow. No Problem except a flat tire (which the system detected before something happened).

Just turned 20K miles in my 2012, only issue was a very small transmission oil leak fixed under warranty.

I have a friend who daily drives his 458 spider and has well over 50K miles, no issues.

    15,000 miles 15 months.

Battery dying on me three times. Now sorted.

Occasional front lift error correcting itself.

    iPod cable replaced under warranty.

This one is an odd one- alloy rear passenger side cracked on the inside. No pot holes etc. £2500 replacement. No damage to tire walls etc.

Going well though and driving it daily:)

    Best

I have driven my 14 Italia 26000 kms in about 15 months of ownership. It's been a pleasure and very much rock solid. FYI, my usage has included at least 6 track days and otherwise lots of spirited mountain road driving.

I have recently had to replace the brake pads and tires.

    Issues -
Drivers seat rotary knob fell off (replaced).
Exhaust bypass valves stopped working (replaced).
Intermittant fan belt squealing high pitched sound at parking lot speeds. The frequency is still so low that the dealer is unable to reproduce or diagnose problem. Still pending-but lately the occurrence of this sound is getting more and more rare.

21000km here did 18000 since May 2014. Parking camera failure, and some annoying interior creaks. Brake squeeling when starting off after few days sitting.

Just read through the thread! LOL, The most common failure seems to be the ipod cable! I guess that's a good thing, although replacement cost for that cable is probably $300 without warranty!
