I dont know what or how if related, I'm an Avid chevron fueler however just the other day I was in the 1/4 area of the tank; and as most of us know the needle can be misleading by a few degrees. I decided to pull up to the nearest station "76" filled her up rather then run on empty. About 10 miles later I witness what looked like the 5-8 cylinder light. It flashed once and I went into panic mode. I drove another 20-30 miles or so to try to recreate the event. It drives smooth and strong at 34k miles. I haven't had the light return; however I'm wondering if the fuel mixture had anything to do with it. I'm running stebro manifolds, Tubi muffler and everything else is bone stock. The 30k service was done about 4k miles ago. I drive it about 50 miles a week on average.

Since we both live in California and the best gas available (excluding race gas) is the weak sauce 91 octane dinosaur urine sold as Premium, I doubt it was anything related to fuel quality. Every now and then I get the oddball tank of Chevron or Mobil gas that causes a tiny bit of detonation at wide open throttle, but the knock sensors seem to be able to dial back the ignition timing to compensate.

Maybe your 5-8 light was an unrelated electrical gremlin?

Well it hasn't return since, weird. Maybe its just the solars magnetic tail brushing the atmosphere causing emi.

Wow, you guys don't have 93 octane gas? What is the rational for that?

I loved LA when I lived there for 7 years, but Kalifornia is just too weird for lifelong residence. Plus, what would I do with all my Class 3/NFA weapons. They would call in the National Guard if I rolled into LA with all that stuff. :)
