Great photos and great taste in cars (including the Scirocco). Nice to see an RO80 in one shot, but what is the old estate car (Humber Hawk?)

I recently joined Ferrari Chat and have loved reading this thread on the Dino. I turned 16 in 1988 and my Dad bought me a 1967 2.0 Spyder which was SO much fun to drive in high school. It was blue, original paint, and ran so well - even in the winter, it was my daily driver to school and it snowed in Ohio...what to do. My best car memory ever was in that car...going through the gears with my Dad in the passenger seat. I was able to keep the car for about 4 years and put several thousand (fairly trouble free) miles on it. Later that year, my Dad also bought me a 2.4 coupe which was RED. Also fun, but so different. In his collection he had a very nicely restored 2.0 Spyder which meant there were three Fiat Dinos at my parents' house in the late 80's/90's. My dad bought a 246 GTS in the early 90's that I drove quite a bit, but, honestly, I liked the Dino the best. Now that I've owned a couple of Ferraris and a bunch of other things, the Dino is the one I remember the fondest...and I'll always look out for a nice Spyder...or a Lancia Stratos...amazing the breadth of cars that the Dino engine went into. Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories!

David- That shot was taken at the RAF Lakenheath "lemon lot". Believe it or not, it is a 1956 Chevrolet station wagon.

Incidentally, that stupid 1977 Scirocco left us stranded in every major port in the US and UK. Relay plate.

Netters- You were a lucky kid. My father had a 1961 Corvette and that is what I used to learn how to drive. Not quite the same thing as a Dino, but still fun.

My pops had a '61 Corvette too, I drove it all the time as a kid. 283, 2x4bbl with a 4-speed and glass pack. You could hear the rumble from blocks away, that thing drove like a truck with the leaf springs a recirculating ball steering, but MAN did it look good!

    [/THREADJACK]

Love the Fiat Dinos, especially the Spiders...

    Awesome!

The 2.0 liter is an aluminum engine block, where the 2.4L is steel???

THIS is the actual reason I was topping up this thread today....

I have recived a phone call, (he wants to buy one of my 308GTBs too!) from a 'car hunter" that is on the trail of this car, based upon a FIAT drivetrain...

    Any thought on this?

It's pretty rare in the USA, with only 35 to 38 of them imported when new....

Hey! what happened to my thread? ;)

Thanks for the kind words guys.. I really love the Dino, despite it's not perfect in any way.. My dream is to restore it nut and bolt.. First up is a new exhaust and some minor rust issues.. I need to fix the gas tank as it's filled with rust.. suggestions about exhaust is more than welcome..

And its me in the pictures with the Dino, with a classic car at such event comes vintage clothing aswell ;)

Great pictures Dino2400. Seems like your car is in really good conditon!

BigTex: The nature in Norway is beautiful and your tuxedo seems about right for the event! ;)

    Cheers
    Daniel

I'm sorry for mixing up your thread, I started one on the FIAT Dino/FIAT 124/2000/Pininfarina and now I cannot find it.

I did find a nice '83 spider though, so I will be ready for next year!

    Here's my other coat....:D

I have the FULL Line ANSA catalog....somewhere at home.

I'll bet I can find the complete ANSA system for your car in there, if you are interested.

They give me good pricing as I have the three identical cars....that's a great blue coat!!!
Don't listen to those guys criticize your wardrobe.....that's a beautiful lady too.

I like my wardrobe, and its part of the game to dress vintage ;) I don't use the blue one every day ;)

    Cheers
