Friend of mine in WA wants a Mass Gran Tourismo. Can anyone give me a realy quick low down on the three models? GT, GT S, and GT S with MC shift? I know SD changed his GT to a GT S, but is the MC shift another step up again or just a gimmick?
Some would think that they are one of the most beutiful modern cars on the road. I would have one and I'm not a modern car person.
i think the look has gone out dated a bit. the look of the grandsport has grown on me. other wise, i think the GT-s gets a better, stronger motor, and MC shift is just a bit of a bodykit, harder suspension, but no real weight loss. still bit too expensive i think. grandsport or coupe is great buy
GranTurismo= 4.2 V8 with 6spd ZF Automatic GranTurismo S Auto= 4.7V8 with ZF Auto. Same car but with spoiler, sideskirts. GranTurismo S MC Shift= 4.7 V8 with 6spd paddle shirt manual. GranTurismo MC Stradale= 4.7 V8. More power, less weight, 2 seats, faster gearshifts, carbon brakes etc.
Particulalry the GS, great tourer & value for money viz a viz alternatives. Issues with CC clutch overplayed, excellent must do mod is the FDDBW module (also available for 360's) -plug & play almost.
reduce significant clutch wear? i heard it's a very expensive clutch job in these cars btw, how they handle on twsity roads? i see 1680kg fully loaded, very heavy and rolly around the bends?
Around $4-5k with full clutch kit ie spiggot bearing etc. Driving style heavily influences the life but s/b good for 20-30k,some owners have managed double that Yes weight is a factor and leather fitouts a contributor to that these are GTs, not sports cars. Do roll a bit, sports mode tempers them somewhat. For the average driver, setup is more than adequate. If one is seeking to go racing, this is not the car
the trofeo i think droped somewhat close to 240kgs? by stripping out the leather seats, and replace some body panels to carbon fibre. i think if it goes on a supperleggera sort of diet, it'd be a sweet car to drive, both comfortable and nimble
Trofeo's were only track cars, a hybrid was released (MCV -only 3 in OZ ) which did have Sparco carbon racing seats and alcantara instead of leather finishing to lighten the car a bit No where near the SL, even the current Stradale suffers from being over weight
Pls use this link as a start http://www.formuladynamics.com/products/f360_f1em/f360_f1em.php excellent results on Masas which has very similar F1 box Currently being fitted in Melb
