My question is "If Massa won the WDC, would so many people want him out of Ferrari?" I think since his accident, he's lost "it".
He never had it. He was always 2nd tier but now the Ferrari is second class as well. Alonso makes the car look better than it is.
The thing with F1 is even a truelly great and naturally gifted driver has bad years and I am no Hamilton sack hanger. The McLaren has improved greatly as the season has progressed yet Lewis still continues to make rookie mistakes. I no longer surf a particular F1 forum of which I was once a moderator simply because it is filled with drivel and Hamilton loving newbie's who do not even have a drivers license or any concept of racing but it is British forum so go figure lol. Lewis imho has alot of talent but his arrogance is his downfall, he treats his team like **** and that says ALOT about a person imho. I love the fact that Jenson has schooled the supposedly 8th wonder of the F1 world this year and Lewis's demeanor this past weekend says he is NOT happy wit JB's contract extension that is rumored at around $130M. ps, Looking forward to the new Brawn GP car for 2012 and if it happens I hope the camera catch's the bugeyed expression of disbelief on Lewis's face as Michael pass's and/or lap's him.
The thing with Lewis is that he has forgotten how to bring the car home, Button at least gets home. The crap tires this year are contributory.
Isn't that abit contraditory regarding the tires? Lewis still drives his car like he is racing a kart thus he must accept that smoothness is faster that a Formula D driving style until he can learn to set his car up that suit's his driving style. Lewis has an enormous amount of talent but after 5yr's one would think he would be holding a better hand yet it seem's as if it is his rookie season. If I was upper management at McLaren I would be looking for a replacement, hey Kimi wants to return lol.
Wayyy too harsh on Massa, I thought you were supposedly a Ferrari fan? Felipe drove awesome in 2008, and if it wasn't for his engine blowing up in Hungary or Ferrari screwing up in Singapore he would have won the title, even if the FIA had not touched the results at Spa. LH had no mechanical failures that year (well, except for his brakes in Canada...oh wait). It's not like Massa told Mad Max to alter the results... No "Tifosi" would ever be pleased to see a McLaren driver beat a Ferrari driver to a title. Ever.
Lewis has the raw pace and the balls of steel do take on anyone on track. However in F1, you cannot be successful F1 driver if he keep thinking his skills is above everything else. I think the biggest problem with LH's career could lies with having his father as his manager during the early part of his F1 career. The sudden burst to fame and stardom for both father and son must have caught both by surprise that too much for them to take it. Remember his dad trashing an SLS or something, and LH broke off with his childhood gf and got hook up with ***** cat doll? IMO, the first big career mistake LH ever did was to put himself out of the drivers market by claiming he will only drive for Mclaren and he is the born and bred Mclaran man who is going nowhere. I think if he has a wise and experienced manager at that time, he would have been advised not to make such a statement to kill his chance of getting a no.1 driver seat with the top team, especially when Mclaren has just gone through a title drought for more than 10 years. fair enough, when Alonso sense LH was getting a little unsettled after engaging Simon Fuller, Alonso went for the kill with a long term contract at Ferrari. Merc got 7 time MSC and Rosberg as the all german line up against all brit at Mclaren, and RBR close the door on LH by sticking with their own prodigy Vettel till 2014. So where can LH go now? The only team which I think could happen will be Ferrari. I am sure Alonso will look forward to a rematch with him as the no.1 driver. The route which LH has chosen with david beckham's Simon Fuller and her ***** cat doll, will eventually destroy his career. Unlike football where they are so many world class big football teams in different countries to play for and you even have CL EC and WC, etc to put you in world stage. But in F1, you only have 1 F1 series and about 2 to 3 teams who is capable of giving you a car to win the championship. Somehow I just got this bad feeling that LH might end his career as a 1 hit wonder kid. And now that Vettel is clocking in all the records, establishing himself as a role model of F1, LH on the other hand is slowly establishing himself as an example of how fame has destroyed an F1 driver.
Senna 3 same team, Stewart 3 same team, Piquet 3 - 2 teams - 3 different engines. Which of these drivers are the least admired?
I think we are getting off track a tad. Simply put LH has the driving talent yet it seem's as if his ego is his biggest downfall.
Lewis still has the skills, it's the car that's under him that is lacking. And for that matter, all the cars are lackimg compaired to the Red Bull boys. McLaren will get it's mojo back, and when it does if Lewis is still piloting for them, watch out. On a side note I still want Schumi and Ross to pull another one out of their hat, for the old guys.
We already know that there would have been all kinds of howling had McLaren won in the year of "spygate". There was certainly a lot of manipulation of results that season. The one at Spa was just an absolute joke.
