Wow, maybe so... but it doesn't look like any of the drifting demos that I've ever seen. That looks more like a guy that's going to end up with the same results as the a$$ in the "for those of you thinking of turning your traction control off" thread.

I wouldn't even do that to a rental Ferrari.

he's definitely wearing out the tires.. but that's it.. he's not launching why would he wear out the clutch? there's no need to shift there much at all

Agree. I was actually impressed with his driving. I would never do that to my Ferrari but the video was fun to watch. I was just waiting for him to tag something......

I was a little impressed too. There were lamp posts, cars and people around and he didn't get close to hitting anything. I think it's kinda silly to do this but it's his car. I would definitely watch and take pics/vids though.

I have trouble believing that anybody with the skill and discipline to be a professional race car driver would behave like that.

I would. I've done it in my Alfa, it's not a 430 but it's still just a car. I wouldn't do it in that parking lot though, there are way too many people and cars.

He shows pretty good car control, but his decision making is questionable. He's performing some of those maneuvers when there isn't enough run out, and has to cut it short a few times before he hits the light post or the car. He should not have started sliding a few times, it takes away from the "show" when he has to do that.

You would wear out $1,600+ worth of tires doing a burn out? If it were just a car, everyone would own a F430! What about the damage to the parking lot with all the burn rubber marks. I believe most would agree, it was just stupid! I don't know any Ferrari owner that would do that.

That didn't wear the tires out. It wore them down a little, but not 'out'. When I said it's just a car I was referring to my Alfa, my apologies for the grammatical error, there should have been a comma to indicate such. But since it was brought up, the 430 is just a car, albeit a Ferrari, but it's a car. And yes, an expensive car. Unless he's doing something to actually damage it, what's the big deal? The tires and suspension bits can be replaced. With proper, regular maintenance, doing a burnout/doughnut won't hurt the car. Even bumping the rev limiter.

The "damage" to the parking lot will be gone after the first rain since he's on the top level. Now if he had actually crashed into the wall, light post, or another car it would be different.

I agree with you though, it was stupid. There is a time and place for everything and this was neither. I enjoy drifting, it takes a LOT of skill to maintain control of the car, and I like being in control of my car. I love rally driving, this is just an off-shoot.

Actually, there's another video I've seen of this event where the tires were shot to the core.

But, to me, it's no big deal. The car can take this and more. If you want to blow a set of tires in smoke, who says you can't?

Wouldn't do that in that car...no way. I don't mean to be Johnny Raincloud over here, but I noticed that he said he wants to be like (and drive with) Ken Block. I'm sorry, but if that's what he means by "want to be like Ken Block" then give almost any teenager the keys to a car and say "go be like Ken Block" and we'd have a LOT more "Ken Blocks" around. What was shown in the video and what Ken Block does have no similarities what so ever.

For those of you who have never heard of Ken Block, this is him:

We all know this kinda show-off is big risk to pedestrians, but gotta admit that this guy got pretty good driving skill.

I have no gut (and head) to do this with my CS anyway ;)
