I'm no expert on Michellotto stuff, 360C is your man for that. All I know about them is that they are highly tuned and require a hellova lot more money and maint than standard. And the difference between the wong car and mine is about 2.5 to 3 seconds per lap at Mallala....he has more drive time behind the wheel and a better sorted car....and he is a better driver than me.....do I notice the time difference? Nope, but as I said speed is a question of money....his has had a shizen load more spent on it thus should be quicker.
Its a standard 360 C with the full michellotto carbon aero kit +(front bar, rear bar and wing)... And from what i have been reading the challenge really needs these aero aids for more stable balance.. What has been done to that 360C?? mostly mechanical as the exterior looks similar to normal challenge??
which one? which 360C? A michellotto has different body panels, different front and rear bar, exhaust, sequential gear box, plus god knows what else. Like i said ask me about 360CH's, Michellotto's are not my cuppa tea and there is no way you could drive a michellotto on the street......way too low
the other thing to remember is that the scuderia and 458 have the hand of god looking after the driver, the driver aids make the cars very useable and can make a very average driver look good........a 360CH has ABS and ASR, it has no stability control thus its quite raw...when the ASR is switched off the ABS is also switched off, at that point its a very very raw race car and driving ability comes into play.. Anyone with half a brain can drive a scuderia or 458 around a track and do impressive times, driving a 360CH with driver aids off in the rain makes for fun and games.
No its only got the front and rear bar.. the rest is standard 360C. The car is in the U.K.. Genuine Michellotto's are way out of my price range.... My subaru is as low as this car and i have no issues driving it on the street. So that to me isnt the issue. I think that a 360C is fine for me in terms of sound, harshness of ride, chassis noises etc as my subaru has pretty much all of these currently.. As i said my car with around 800 hp is not easy to drive for someone not accustomed to it, and im sure the 360C is no different.. As with any car learning the characteristics is best on a track with large open run offs.. We have some smaller tracks over here in Perth which also incorporate skid pans and will provide some good knowledge of how the car will predict in certain situations.. This would be what i would be attempting first and once learn the car move onto more competitive style events.. I am sorry if I offended you - it was uncalled for. However, within your first handful of posts on here, you indicated you wanted to buy a 360 or 430 Challenge and asked some salient questions. Then you said you would import a 360 Straddle (sic) Unfortunately it went downhill from there - when one of the (very) few 360CH owners on the planet, and certainly the only one in Australia, that has both road & track experience of a 360CH offers a wealth of information to you, you discount it by 60%. Interesting that you have driven both a 430 Scud & 458 Italia on the track - you must be well connected. I wish you well with your purchase, whatever it turns out to be.
and a stradale is a road car, it has air con and other luxuries that the CH has zilch of. JM.......I am happy to give information because it was a learning curve for us and still learning. What I dont get is the whole road aspect of having a CH to drive it on the road, a stradale will do everything a CH does with proper rego. But Mike did say....buy a CH and normal 360 and still have change in the bank..... A 360CH is a race car, nothing more nothing less, driving it on the road means having to deal with police (exhaust noise), the inability to park the thing (cant see out the back), hates reversing (brass clutch), no key for ignition, very few came with keys to lock the doors (we even had rods made to lock the sliding windows), pad locks are required for bonnet and boot (no proper locks), no fuel gauge (it doesnt work..hence sat nav is needed to work out km driven), no odometer, no hand brake, no inertia reel seat belts (makes rego impossible), no sunvisor and when the brembo's wear they rattle..... or just buy a scuderia.......hand of god car or stick with the 800hp (belch) subaru
You know the saying, "dont judge a book by its cover" the same applies here. If i didnt take on board anything that has been written in this thread i would'nt be asking more questions.. I am much appreciative of goober and mike and others that have put in imput and their thoughts on the topic.. I orginally asked about the 430 challenge as i have seen some cheaper examples going around and i immediatly thought a newer car would be a better car, and it probaly is but not worth the extra things that need to be done over the 360.. The 360 CS could be an option but it all depends on pricing, as the C is obviously much cheaper to purchase.. So importing one may not be viable.. I like to ask questions however dumb they may be and thouroughly investigate my options before i make a decision, and suppose this may save others asking the same questions in the future... I wouldnt say that i was well connected just because i drove those cars, it wasnt in Austrlia however but in the USA where these cars are much more readily accessible.. Thanks for your candid opinon much appreciated. When i say road use, it will be going to and from events, i dont want to have to purchase a trailer and 4wd just to transport the car when it can easily get there on its own steam.. but i hear what you are saying and definately take it all on board.. Scuderia is out of my budget... I would be keeping my subaru in any case, too much sentiment and cash thrown into it to ever think of parting ways with it..
hahah yes just not in Australia... Ill keep you updated in what i path i end up... Thanks for the info..
I only sell to clients I know and they pay in Euro. Wannabe's and could-have-beens dont get into the inner sanctum of the warehouse
Hi Trainwrex (what a name...) The difference between a challenge and a GT is big, but nevertheless try a good 360 GT! The prices are very realistic and not much more than a good Challenge, but the advantages are huge. It is a very special car, only a few made so depriciation will be less. Maintenance is ok, just dont crash it. The sound of the Michelotto tuning and exhaust is very different than a Challende and the funfactor tripple than that of a Challenge. I know Brunel (he is close to the aussies..) knows one for sale, pm him. It is/was from a guy who was afraid in the GT.... Tracktime with the GT is worth every second, and quite easy to drive as long as you have the right setup and tyres. ciao Oscar ps a 360 CH with Michelotto parts will never be a GT!
Not much more expensive than a 360 challenge?? links please i find that very hard to believe... The challenge i am looking at so happens to have the michelotto kit dosent mean im trying to make it be one, its just an added bonus...
No links, just contact the ones for sale. They probably ask huge prices, but making a good offer might work. And as I mentioned, contact Birel. ciao Oscar
i heard the same thing from a buddy who has tracked or owned all of the latest iterations (360ch, 430ch, 458ch). he obviously likes his 458ch, but he said it was a much more technical car to drive, and for sheer fun the 360ch was the best. his gripe with the 430 was that it somehow didnt handle as well, and that the power may be too much for the chassis. i am seeing him again in a few days so will ask for more detail. but, the reason i am joining the discussion is to find out if a 360ch, with the added splitter and wing, is as effective as the 360gt cars that came that way from the factory - or did they add other stuff that has not been mentioned on this thread?
As good as a 360 Challenge is the GT/N-GT/GTC cars are real racing cars and very different from a challenge car. My 360 GTC has a a wider front track, sequential Hewland 'box, close to 500 bhp without the restrictors and weighs 1000 kgs. Need I say more?
Yes The highly developed(e.g. Michelotto) FIA 360GT cars are very differnent than the 360CH...and IMHO are very decent race cars and the price difference reflects the degree of speciality developement on the GT vs a 360CH.
To the best of my knowledge you can't run it without restrictors as the engine management isn't mapped for it. Michelotto have never done a programme to suit no restrictors as the car is inelligible to race without them. Have you scaled your GTC at 1000kg ? Seems pretty light as my N-GT was further developed and lightened when it was run by Veloqx. Lighter weight panels again and titanium fastners throughout, dash supports removed, even the window frames are modified beyond Michelotto issue. It scales at about 1050kg without the ballast, so 1000kg seems odd? My car also runs the hewland sequential and I was told it was a development that Veloqx did with Michelotto; but who knows. Mine was certainly one of the first to race with the hewland, and it runs a different gearbox casing to the later cars.
Car weighs in right around 1000. It was the presentation car so maybe and as always special efforts were made. There is a difference between the N-GTs and the GTCs though. as to the engine, well it has no restrictors and I only allow my fi Reindeer Cristiano Michelotto to touch it and I have a spare engine with no restrictors.... As it is a track day car and no longer eligible for racing, I don't mind! As to the engine, well
So this is your car then? If it weighed in at 1000kg's on the race scales that is very impressive. Perhaps your car was modified somewhere along the ownership chain like mine was. Very intersting that it can run without restrictors, what step engine is currently in it ? If Cristiano is looking after it I guess anything is possible That's an advantage of being in Europe too. We are rather a long way from Michelotto down here. Lots of detail between the N-GT (first 360 GT car) and the GTC (last 360 GT car) as you say. Image Unavailable, Please Login
