Nope. We have just lost a driver because of stupid oval race courses. The original Monza circuit involved part of an oval course ... and we (I believe) lost drivers over the top of that bank too. Quite simply oval race tracks should be banned as you have to have a solid wall at the top and thus driver safety is completely compromised. Oval courses were invented when circuit operators were trying to out do each other with "the fastest race in the world" bollocks. We have moved way passed that naive stupidity. Pete
I like how everyone is naming things that were banned because of there extreme costs. Racing now is closer now since...... Well a long time ago, yes RB are running away with it a bit but their competitors are closer than Ferrari's were from 2001 to 2004. The mid field seems the place to be at the moment. Any one of 4 or 5 teams can get into the top 10 shoot out and score points. The last three teams are better than they were last year and will continue to improve. So I'd like Bernie to leave the rules alone for at least the next 6 years.
Very true, it is when all cars should be at their absolute fastest. Plus for the first few laps of the race he's probably driving at least 9 10th to get a gap before the DRS is enabled.
Exactly. I guess you could extrapolate and see how far ahead he'd be at the end of the race if he kept that pace. If the car lasted.
RB should do that at Abu Dhabi, after all theres nothing to play for any more. Why not make a point to the other teams of how much they COULD have won by.
For the same reason an (American) high school football team doesn't pile on the points ? No sense in humiliating and pizzing off guys you'll be racing against next season. With the "flexible" rules in F1 a dominant team faces unofficial sanctions.
Take a look through this list: http://www.f1complete.com/content/view/228/383/ Plenty of F1 drivers have lost their lives on tracks that had nothing to do with ovals, so should we ban road course races as well? Should all open wheel racing be banned due to the risk of cars taking off if they come together in the wrong way? Should we ban Motorcycle racing because Marco Simoncelli died recently? I have used this before but for Me it sums up just about everything about Motorsport still to this day: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eR3gDBhE0w&feature=related[/ame] When things do go wrong it's a tragedy and lessons need to be learned, but you're never going to make Motor racing 100% safe unless you have all the drivers racing on playstations only, no where near a track. The guys that go racing know that: "it can happen to you".They hope and trust that it won't but they know it could.
