    +1

However, should they do 3 in a row that would put them among the greats IMO.....

And a smooth segway it was too :)

I suspect the lack of further reports suggests he was just visiting his favorite ice cream vendor. :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

According to a Finnish newspaper, Kimi is key in having Qatar National bank come in as a sponsor. Williams has been trying for years to get Qatar on board. I believe we will see Kimi.

Could he lead a new 'ascendacy' of Williams with Renault power?

Kimi can only drive fast. He doesn't have any great technical feedback nor rapport. So the only way the ascendancy will come is if Williams miraculously develop a good car.

Exactly. Kimi is a moody sob who insisted on not being talked to while in a corner or during qualifying (I love the guy lol, he makes me chuckle). He's not a technician like Schu or Vettel in that they are both walking talking mechanical dictionaries regarding their car and setup. Prost was much the same way. Senna was sort of like that, but much of the time not in a way the technicians could understand. Senna would just tell them to adjust some corner of the car in 'X' way because he knew he could gain time at a certain couple corners. He had no real explanation as to why, but it worked

Great pic. The second pic shows an amazing amount of concentration. I hope he comes back. 1 WDC doesn't match his talent.

    From Autosport today - Was kind of buried in the (expected) announcement of Coughlan taking over as technical director;

If he brings and/or Williams get Mid Eastern money I could see it happening!

    Cheers,
    Ian

Absolutely. Kimi would be a sure thing if he brought the $$$ with him with that sponsor. Williams has been after them for years now.

After the India F1 race, Williams stated that Kimi is very anxious to get back into F1. Hmmm...looks like Kimi is the one pursuing Williams, and not the other way around.

I love his helmet design too. Some of the others are just bland. JB has a cool design too. I hope he makes a comeback, but I'd hate to see Rubens go, but sometimes you just gotta bring in new or younger blood.

Wow it's been several days and no one has brought this up?

Kimi is all but signed to Williams. Seems like a small matter of formal signatures on funding from Qatar.

    Rubens is out.

Rumors rumors but this one does sound solid. Check your favorite motorsports news sites.

EDIT: oh sorry I see it is briefly touched on in the 'mood chart' thread.

    Briefly touched?

This rumor was the reason for that entire thread. Just read the OP.

Sorry Sir, but you have just been given a "Double thread" ticket in a 55 zone. ;)

    Hehehe.

Well lets have a look at young driver testing.
    From Joe Blog:

Immediately after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix there will be a three-day Young Driver test for all the F1 teams. Some of the teams have now named their drivers, while others are still making decisions.

Red Bull Racing has announced that French rising star Jean-Eric Vergne will drive an RB7, while Scuderia Toro Rosso will be taking a look at Stefano Coletti and Kevin Ceccon.

Lotus Renault GP says that it is going to be running Romain Grosjean and Kevin Korjus.

The 18-year-old Estonian is racing in the Renault World Series and became the youngest driver to win a race in that category this year.

Williams is due to run test driver Valtteri Bottas and Formula 2 champion Mirko Bortolotti, the latter getting a run as part of his prize for winning the title.

Sauber has announced that its drivers will be Mexican youngster Esteban Gutierrez and Switzerland’s Fabio Leimer, while Marussia Virgin is expected to field Robert Wickens and Adrian Quaife-Hobbs, who are both part of its young driver programme.

Team Lotus has announced that it will be fielding America’s Alexander Rossi, and it is likely that the two GP2 drivers Luiz Razia and David Valshecci will also get a run.

McLaren is due to give Lewis Williamson a test at some point, but it is not yet clear whether this will be in Abu Dhabi and there has been speculation that the test will be done by Oliver Turvey.

Ferrari is expected top run its test driver Jules Bianchi and Mercedes GP is tipped to use Sam Bird once again.

There is currently no word from either Force India or HRT

I dont see much happening with KR at Williams.
IMO Williams has turned into a profit making machine not a team that takes F1 championships serious anymore.
As far as Kimster is concerned he is too smart to see Williams as anything other than a stepping stone to prove to the other teams he is serious. And I think he is. He just read too much of his own Press that made himself believe he was Godlike.
His head is screwed back down now.
His further carreer will depend on how he does against Maldonado. The other teams will be watching.
