    None of us on here, that's for sure. None of us seem to have a clue, really. Trying to read and understand people we've never met? Trying to understand teams the members of which we don't know. Trying to tell the best drivers in the world how they should be driving and what they're doing wrong. Believing and/or arguing about all the above? We're all nuts!

    Look on the autosport forums and pretty much anywhere else. It's utter madness. Here and F1technical seem to be the only place which have their heads on somewhat straight. F1tech also has some anonymous team posters which is nice, one of which I know very well :)

    Unless it's a someone at the top, then it's guesswork. Even then, who knows when it's spin?

    I believe very little, but almost nothing of what I read on here. Of course, that doesn't make it any less interesting.

    What about Jamie Alguersuari? He is still only 22 years old and has outpaced Sebastian Beumi who has more experience. Plus he has been scoring points for Toro Rosso, at times he was faster than Mercedes GP. He is still young.

    Quite like him...He's had some mad races this year!

    Apparently he and Alonso don't get along though.

    Fair enough.

    I consider myself as having a very good understanding of F1, but wouldn't claim to be "an expert". As for sources, a few long time journos are pretty good but even most of them just follow the herd and believe whatever BS the teams want to spin this week. Until I read something here from LdM, Sir Frank or other team principals it's just another opinion (IMO ;))

    Indeed - I think that's why most of us stick around and freely voice our opinions. Kudos to the mods again on this - Trolls (of which most sites seem to be infested) don't last too long and that really helps.

    This;

    +1

    We're just enthusiastic fans.

    BTW, my definition of an "expert";

    X - An unknown quantity
    spert - A drip under pressure.

    :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    So was I. But Julio (who's Spanish) posted some of the reasons why a while back. I can't remember the details, but only one of 'em wears the Spanish flag and they're from very disparate backgrounds.

    Interesting how opinions on young Jamie have changed here - When he came in he was generally considered a makeup-wearing spoilt kid with no chance....... I haven't checked, but has he really dusted Buemi (who may or may not be any good himself of course) consistently?

    He seems to be doing OK, but a replacement for Phil? No way IMO.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Rumor is Perez is most likely to replace Massa next year. Carlos Slim is Perez biggest sponsor and is doing everything he can to get Perez a seat at Ferrari next year. I hope my sources are correct.

    I thought Perez wasn't being considered until 2014 or 2013? I wonder if Slim is offering to assist in buying out Massa's spot. Hmmm, another brilliant marketing move by Slim? Get Perez in the seat, sponsor Ferrari further. I guess this could all just be fun and games for him though

    Well known, Ferrari is a money whore. Alonso paid for by Santander, and if it is Perez, it will be because he comes with the money of the richest man on earth, Carlos I DOn't Care About Anyone Else Slim.

    Slim is a self serving pig in country where someone as rich as Slim could do so much good, but they just don't care.

    Great karma for Ferrari.

    Well, I just think that Alonso is great in a great car... but nowhere in a less than good car. Schumacher would re invogorate the Ferrari team, bring some direction and may even possibley win a few races. DiResta is a future WC... but not with Mercedes.. Brawn has sold his soul to the devil, and cant make a car he wants.

    Not just them. Fans around the world will be happier for it as well.

    It is interesting how the support for him went downhill: FChat used to be a total love fest for Massa. Look at it now, only a few die hard fans who post that he should stay with the Scuderia.

    I never liked the guy so I'm happy once he is gone. That said, I truly think he isn't delivering the results and on top of that he had a (too) long ride with the team. I like the drivers to pack their bags after a few years, whether that's Ferrari or any other team and regardless of whether they were successful or not. It just is boring to see the same old same old sitting in the same car every year.

    I don't know off hand but I'm suspecting Massa had one of the longest continous career of all the Ferrari drivers in history. MS' was longer, but I can't think of many others that stayed that long.

    I always liked Massa, but his performances this year have been thoroughly disappointing and it's time for him to move on. I would even say the same for Schumacher had it not been for him having so many fantastic races this year. If Massa did the same there would be no question he should stay, but it's quite the opposite.

    I am wondering if there is a bidding war between Nico and whoever is backing him and Perez with Slim's backing. Nico needs to be bought out and paid big and brings no sponsors. Perez brings huge $$$ and can be removed from Sauber for a song. I am starting to think Nico will never see a Ferrari seat if Ferrari are viewing this purely from a dollars perspective. Also, I know Alonso says he is afraid of absolutely no one, but bringing Nico in could potentially put him in another Mclaren-like situation. Nico is good, very good. I would actually rather see Nico against Vettel in a Red Bull, but I'm dreaming there.
