This forum has been a big help in a few things such as the shifter bushing which I changed out today and made a big difference. Here is something I would like to contribute.

I really like things to work properly even if not originally. If there is enough interest, I can order some more bulbs.

Nice mod / fix. Now all you have to do is teach idiot owners like me how to set the time. :)

http://autolumination.com/74.htm and the number is #24 white. That's about it. They fit right in, just might have to turn them because of polarity.

I ordered my bulb(s). That clock was driving me nuts. I replaced all the dash lights in my Triumph TR8 with LEDs. Huge improvement. We have similar taste in cars. I have a 2002 360 Spider, TdF Blue, with crema interior. I also have a 1963 Jaguar XKE FHC. Thanks again for the fix.

    I think it is:

    Introducing the Tri-Power 3LED Bulb
Outfitted with 3 of the latest Super High-Flux low profile Leds
Designed especially for gauges, and applications requiring a large uniform field of bright light
Note: These are slightly larger than stock #24 bulbs. Please measure your opening to make sure they will fit.

    #24 (T6-1/2, T2-1/4) bulbs are 5/8" (15mm) x 3/8 (8mm)" diameter

The photo in the link he provide clearly shows only 3 leds and not 2 side facing ones. Not 100% positive. But that's the one I ordered. I guess you could always order the 5LED and 3LEDs just in case.

Sounds like you have the correct one. I ordered the 5 one also but it is to long to fit in the case. Just look at the picture and scroll down to the bulb with the three front facing LEDs. When you click to order, the number on the invoice simply shows #24.

Just to confirm..it seems it is the 3 LED # 24 bulb that is required. I got the 5 LED version and it's a lot longer than the 3 LED. The 5 LED jams up against the plastic inside the clock and doesn't allow the light to diffuse resulting in a not so good result.

That is correct. Refer to post #18. I tried the 5 LED one and it would not fit.

I was paying the postage anyway so I ordered a couple of extra ones. If anyone in the SJ area wants one they can be had for the price of a beer.

Installed my bulb today. Very quick and easy.

    A couple of hints:
    - the LED bulb will just barely fit through the hole but it goes through with a little wiggling

    - the 3 LEDs are arranged like this >- with the blade/contact running horizontal. That puts one LED right next to a contact. I inserted the bulb with that contact closest to the wires, then rotate counter clockwise.

    - if it doesn't illuminate don't try to take it out. Just rotate it back to the starting position and continue 90 degrees in the other direction. If you try to take it out you will knock the bulb out of the socket. Then spend an extra 10 min with needle nose trying to get the bulb back out of the clock.

I had that same worry, so I took a dremel and shaved a little off of the led bulb edges so it would fit in easily and be easy to take off in case I put it in wrong.
