Was on the Fall Colors drive this past weekend on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It was a very fun time, by the way. I noticed several F348s that the back up light comes on when the car is in second gear. I was told my 1994, F348 was also having the same problem by those following me. Dose anyone know where to start to fix this? It would seem to be a common problem. Cheers, Tim
Most likely the rubber boot Underneath the shift gate is torn due to age and is pushing on the sensor that turns the reverse lights on. My guess is that if you remove the rubber boot, by a new one or reposition it a bit your problem will be solved. I had the same problem replaced the worn boot, it is not that expensive, problem was solved.
+1 I had this same issue several years ago and it was just a simple shift boot replacement to fix it.
A well known and common issue. You can replace the boot, but sooner or later, it will happen again. See this thread for how I solved the problem http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=258478 - Eric
Thanks all, I'll have a look today. I figured you guys would know and that it was pretty common, since just about all the 348 on the Fall Colors tour this past weekend were having the problem. Cheers, Tim
