Bilstein USA will repair your shock for $100. Doesn't get any cheaper than that. http://www.bilsteinus.com/products/s...e/service.html The aftermarket alternative is Deltavee. Apparently he can not only rebuild the shocks but improve upon them, using more durable materials to make the last longer and not develop leaks, which is common. http://www.deltavee.net/services.htm $290 each, but those that have used Robs services swear by them.
"(I did not like the ugly splicing block Bosch provides with the universal O2 sensors)" I use Raychem solder sleeves for that, they are a sealed heat shrink tube with solder in the middle, you just stick a wire in each end and heat it with a heat gun. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/edmosoldersleeve.php
FYI, the 1995 Ferrari Mass Airflow Sensors (2 used) are different than those on 1996 - 1999 F355s (OBD II, only 1 sensor). The 1995 Sensors are Bosch 0280 213 012, (Ferrari P/N #154916) and are same as used on SAAB 9000 2.3-16 Turbo 09.90-08.93, SAAB 9000 Hatchback 2.3-16 Aero CS 02.93-12.98, VOLVO 740 Kombi (745) 2.3 Turbo 08.89-07.90, VOLVO 960 (964) 2.0 08.90-09.93, VOLVO 960 (964) 2.9 08.90-07.94
Some feedback on the Regitar parts...I don't think the quality is very good. Aeroengineman had a bad Regitar voltage regulator right out of the box. After 8k miles of use (about 3.5 years) my Regitar voltage regulator failed today. I reinstalled the used factory Nippondenso voltage regulator and the "batt" light went back out. FWIW...but I think Regitar parts are not the end all.
Anyone found a cross reference to P/N 169710 Air bag Control Unit? This one is pretty expensive. A cross would be a wonderful thing...
part # 157474 sells for over $100 can be exchanged for a v-band type stainless steel clamp that sells for $8 eBay with a life time warranty. http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-Clamp-V-Band-2-75-3-06-Stainless-Steel-V-Band-/320797833639?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item4ab10a79a7#ht_1496wt_932
Nice one! I'll bet you don't have to bang it with a hammer to remove it, like you do with the stock ones!
Gotta be careful posting eBay as a source as usually by the time somone checks the link, either the auction has ended and you can't buy the part or the auction is old and eBay says that it's not accsesable any more so the part referenced becomes unknowable. If some one checks the link say 6 to 9 months from now... it's gone. JD
Just one of many suppliers, they sell the V-band clamps; http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=tp&Category_Code=CLA
Here is another exhaust item that can be bought for much less. I got the part number from another post, so please no credit to me. I believe forum member ernie is due the credit. go to any BMW dealer give them part # 61361393403 this tyco relay is for a E36 bmw abs system .cost is $ 35.00 dealer price.
I was recently changing my 355 exhaust and when I removed the intake airboxes I noticed that all six rubber airbox mounts were dry rotting and cracking. Makes sense since they are located directly above the hot muffler. I looked them up on Ricambi and they are about $17/each. Not terribly expensive, but $100 is more than I wanted for pay for some rubber mounts. With a bit of research I found an equivalent rubber mount for $2.81/each. I know the threaded studs are a few mm longer, but it doesn't affect anything. $17 is a lot better than $100!! If anyone else needs them, I got them from: Advanced Antivibration Components Part# V11Z02MMMKA025 Cylindrical Mount $2.81/each Picture below: OEM left (Part# 142202) vs. Aftermarket right Image Unavailable, Please Login
I couldn't locate the part at CarQuest, but you can get them from PerfectEngine.com for $2.84 each. Part is 'Victor Reinz F7197'. Free ship and located in LA.
CalConverter has the F355 catalytic converter for $415.00. It is apparently using the magnaflow core. These are OEM fit and CARB approved. The units have a 5 year / 50K mile warranty from the manufacturer. Drivers side: FE84311 Passenger Side: FE84310 Phone: 888-898-3203 (east coast). The manufacturer is located in LA.
I would prefer we do not post products that are untested. Particularly something as sensitive as catalytic converter. Just because a vendor lists a product, does not mean they have it in stock, or that it will work properly and not throw "low catalyst efficiency" codes. Thanks in advance...
I am having these installed in my car as we speak. They didn't have the part in stock, but had it made and shipped within a week of my order. I'll report back any issues.
The problem with aftermarket or rebuilt cats (from personal experience and posts from others here) is the problem of the "low catalysts efficiency" code may not present itself immediately. Sometimes it may take a few months or two to three thousand miles (or more) to crop up.
Time to replace wiper blades and I figured I would replace the entire Bosch wiper frame as well as the refill or blade. I went to the local auto parts store, and could not find the exact same frame, even though they stocked three different Bosch models (Bosch makes seven). If you want to transfer the factory "wiper wing" over, you must have the correct frame. Surprisingly, I found it at (of all places) the WalMart store! It is the Bosch "Steel Tech" frame that you need....be careful, as the auto parts stores carry a very similar looking one (Micro Edge), but does not have the proper vent cut outs to accommodate the wing. Looking over the Bosch website, it appears the Excel has the same frame as the Steel Tech, and may also work, but I have not confirmed it. You need a 20" for the passenger side, and 21" for the drivers side. One note...the Steel Tech is very slightly different than the original oem version in that the vents are correctly designed, but the spacing has changed ever so slightly. When you remove the vent from the old wiper, you will need a very small #8 Torx driver. When you install on the new blade, you will need to make a very small clearance cut in one of the vents with a Dremel cut off wheel. I applied some black paint to the cut to ensure no future rust issues. After that, the installation is straight forward. The frames come with several adapters, but the one that comes on it, is the correct one, so you can save yourself some time messing with them and studying all the cryptic drawings. *EDIT: Closer examination of the wiper wing attached to the new Steel Tech Bosch frame shows it not super secure...I added a small washer under each of the two Torx screws and now it is secure. BUT, I went back and looked at the oem 21" frame more closely, and now see that the original frame has special metal bosses or mounts specifically to secure the wiper wing. So this is a specially made part for Ferrari. Go figure. While I have the wing securely attached, I may reuse the original one, and simply swap the rubber refill. I can confirm the 20" Bosch Steel Tech fits and secures perfectly...it has no wiper wing either.
Guys, one I dont see listed here is the vacuum valve on the exhaust. You can fit the Porsche 911 (997) part from the sports exhaust with minor adjustment. I have used both the 996 one which is a bit short this just means the valve is open a little bit all the time and stops the rattle in the actual butterfly. The 997 one the actuator rod is approx 10mm / half inch to long so needs to be cut down a little and the lock nut thrown away. circa £60 in the UK against £500+ ferrari
Paul, what year is your car? 5.2 Motronic? And does it have the catalyst ECU for the bypass valve? Iwould be concerned if it is 5.2 Motronic, that if the bypass valve is open a little bit all the time, that this might give the Motronic an indication the valve is open when it should not be, and trip a "check engine" light and P1448 code.
Hi, sorry, yes my car is a 5.2 however I think the actuator valve is the same on both. I should have said my Porsche dealer informs me that they do not list the 996 bypass valve as a seperate item, I just happened to have one on an old box. The 997 unit shuts off fine and is available as part number P997.111.680.00 Regards
