    Thanks Fred,

It was great researching the Monza technical details with your help and the guys at VLG. I'm looking forward to sitting 0358 and 01030 together and continuing some of the detective work ...

    Hi Olivier

Thanks, I think all the early Lamborghinis are tremendous cars, so ahead of their time and now so deserving of care. Very pleased to be able to look after 0358 for a while.

    Dear Martin,

Congratulations on buying the 350 GT, great news!

Speaking about the Monza, today might be a nice day for this special picture.
It is our friend Marcel de Lange, opening the door of Top Motors in Nonantola,
    revealing the Monza.

Marcel passed away exactly 5 years ago today. on 30 October 2006.

We still miss him, and we will never forget him!

    Cheers,
    Marcel

    Yes Marcel,

A very good time to remember Marcel de Lange. It was as a result of meeting at the Monza auction that I became friends with Marcel, but for too short a time. The last time we met was at Sant'Agata when I took the Monza. His knowledge and enthusiasm was amazing.

    All the best
    Martin

    Fred -

Just an FYI, I bought 0454 last year.

It's listed as originally being orange with a red interior. (rather interesting color combination) When I bought the car, I received a few older photos of it including a couple that show it in orange. They were most likely taken in the late 70's or early 80's judging by the photos, but I don't know that for sure. Do you know of any period photos of it in its original colors?

(I would be extremely grateful if anyone who has any could share them with me.)

    Thank you.
    John

Wow! 454 -- very cool John. You've got a nice car there indeed.

Well, I'm not the guy for period shots, but there are a few folks here who might come to the rescue.

Have you ever talked to Brian Gladish? Who owned/restored the car, I imagine in the 90's and beyond. Good guy, very open and pleasant. I used to see him all the time, but haven't in a few years now. I wonder if he'd have any old shots?

    Cheers,

    Fred

    Dear John,

I'm sorry but I don't have any pictures of an orange 350 GT in my files.
But we do have a picture of a mystery guest at Villa Erba this year, and that car looks a lot like #0454 ?? can you confirm that perhaps ;-) Or did the car never leave the USA?

    Ciao!

Hi Martin, we have the Monza listed with the 350 GT cars, because it was mentioned somewhere that it was probably build on a early 350 GT chassis, is that correct? I know these chassis are basicly identical, but the rear suspension on the 400 GT 2+2 was changed to give more room for the extra seats or something, I red somewhere. Any thoughts on this Martin? Cheers, Marcel

I'm going to ask this question both here and on the vlg.

What's the story with "Chassis 100"?

101 was the Geneva show car, and was then crashed by Wallace during testing. Whether it was sold at the time or not -- I have no idea. But it seems it no longer exists.

100 -- is that the test frame we see so often "here and there" in historical photos? (I guess the Coltrin photos)

I've seen photos of what I assume is #100, a bare frame with engine and running gear and seats attached to it. Is that chassis #100??

    Thanks,

    Fred

    Hi Marcel,

I have not been able to get 0358 and the Monza side by side yet to make comparisons but looking forward to finding out more and sharing with you and the vintage guys. Meanwhile, all I can do is refer you to the photos I took shortly after buying the Monza and which Fred kindly uploaded to http://www.400gt.com/photos/monza/monza.htm . From these it seemed to be an Interim, can you make out anything more from the chassis photos ?

    Thanks
    Martin

So 101 is NOT the car Wallace crashed? Was it 103? That one seems to have disappeared as well

    Thanks,

    Fred

    Fred -

No, I've never spoken with Brian. Do you happen to have his contact info? If so, can you PM it to me?

    Thank you.

    Hi Marcel -

Yes, that does look a lot like 0454, but it hasn't left WA since I bought it 12/10; so if that photo was taken this year, then it's not 0454.

I'm leaving on a trip in a couple hours, but when I'm back home in a few days, I'll try to scan the pics that I have of 0454 when it was orange and post them. I'm still hoping for some better photos of it in those colors if anyone else happens to have any.

    Thanks
    John

Photo as promised. Based on the date stamp on the photograph, it looks like it was probably taken in 1990, but I don't know that for sure. I haven't had a chance to speak with the previous owner about it yet, so maybe I'll be able to add more later.

    Certainly an interesting color.

I have to admit, I would have never thought that I would like it in orange until I saw the photo.

Wonderfull opportunity to acquire one of the 2 duplications...

Knowing that the 2 originals disappeared from the surface, everybody is speaking about the one belonging to Al Burtoni... but who can confirmed he still owns it ? pictures ?

    Hi Walter!

Normally I have serious doubts about SWB replica's, cut of Daytona's etc,
but I have to agree with you that this car offered by Uwe is very nice looking!!

    Thanks for the link.

    Ciao!

the car was also at the Show in Italy, Padova recently.
