We have been offered a very suspect deal on a 348 spider. I am listing the vin# to see if this is a real deal. The vin number is ZFFRB43A0R0096886. This is a red spider, seller claims to be located out of the US . There are some 50 pictures listed showing the car in front of a very large home on a stone or marble entry. There are addtional photos inside a large garage with at least 2 overhead doors. Also showing some corner cabinets with video equipment on them. The car shown is spotless with 8300 miles. Who owns this car??????????????????????????????? Howard Musolf 1981 308gtsi 1982 400i Cabriolet 1987 Lotus Esprit Turbo 2 many brass era cars 1920's Race cars
This car was first owned by Larry Payne of Hickory, NC. Then it was for sale in 1996 through Foreign Cars Italia, red with cream interior, one owner, 1,700 miles. Then it popped up on eBay back in September through The Auto Union in Clermont, FL, with 8,335 miles. Here's the auction; it never sold.
The photos of the car sent to me are the exact ones from the ebay auction. The guys name trying to scam is Tony Graven, telling us the car is located in Prince George British Columbia. He has a phony story regarding using pay pal and he is in finacial trouble and will sell the car for cash only thru pay pal at $31 grand. Just for your information, buyer beware...........................................another twist to the African money scams. We fould this car on Yahoo cars, and have reported it to paypal, Yahoo, and the selling dealer in Florida. Howard Musolf
Does not make sense????? Here it is, I thought this guy bought it?????????? http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=140873322#post140873322
He probably did (though clarification would be nice), but that doesn't stop scammers from using old auction photos and information to perpetrate a "sale."
If it helps, I live in Prince George, BC. I can dispell any rumors about a Nother Ferrari in PG. I know of only 2... Mine, and a yellow 360.
So far Mr Graven has not responded to our offer of meeting him and the 'non existant" 348 at the Ferrari dealer in Vancouver BC. We suggested that he bring the car and title to the dealer, for a PPI, then on approval, we would pay him in cash for the car. I'm guessing yet another scam. As I said earlier, a new twist to the countless African money scams. Howard Musolf
The guy who looks as if he bought it has screen name "Darkhorse" and personal name Tony R. In the e-bay ad it says "sold with integrity by Tony Rienzi." I don't know if it's the same Tony in each one or not but maybe he was the seller/saleman and not the buyer?
This car in question is extremely nice. Probably the 2nd nicest I have ever seen. ST48 has the nicest I have seen, hands down.
I checked today and this spider is still listed with the bogus owner. The sad part is the owner tired to get it removed and Yahoo would not respond. I emailed Yahoo and gave them all the needed details that this was a fraudulent activity and they told me they would look into it, but that might take a couple of weeks. No telling how much money this guy might scam while this listing is still active. His story sounds almost believable, so if someone is really looking for a 348 spider, they might fall prey to his scam. I sold this 348 spider to my friend in Missouri few months back. The person I bought it from contacted me saying it was being offered for sale on AOL's (classified)site for less then I paid.
