I am an Italia fan of David Piper and I am looking to his carreer and his cars.
I have a doubt and I hope that here there is someone that can help me.

Please, is there anybody who knows the exact colour of the Ferrari P2/3 winner with Piper the Kyalamy 9 hours in 1966?

I have not seen any colour picture and I am not sure that it was green.

That car was red when it was sold to Piper as P2.
Then it was repainted green and (among others races) it won Kyalami 9 hours with n.1 and green colour.

In 1966 it was changed in a P2/3 and all the picturres of the races in 1966 that I have are in b/n.
The only colour picture is on the site
    http://www.racingsportscars.com/driver/photo/David-Piper-GB.html
in red colour for a race at Surfers Paradise.

In an article of the "south African Motoring Mirror" (shown on the book "Pipes!" by Mills, Reed & Young) where they made a test after the race, it is described as "angry red".

In this case, the car was red for all the season?
At the Auveregne Trophy was it red too?
I believe it was painted again green in 1967 before Daytone race.

    What do you thinK?
    Has someone some colour pictures?

    Thank You

    Renato

Thank you wetpet but in that article, I have mentioned, writte after the 3h of killarney (won by Piper with n.2), the author describes his: "first impression...is the Ferrari size. It is angry red, brutish and big..."

Surfers Paradise has been held in agoust 1966 and these are the pictures that I have found on www.autopics.com.au

The b/w pic has been taken in Outon Park (I believe before)

Springbok series is at the end of the year.

The green car has been taken before Sebring 1967 and it seems something like a new presentation...

I try again to find a kind expert that can help me.

This is the article on South African Motoring Mirror written just after the race in Killarney, and published on the book "Pipe's".

Is it possible that "angry red" is an idiomatic expression to say something that is not connected with the colour of the car?

In this case, which car did Piper drive at Surfers Paradise race? (may be Clarke's 0826?)

I have found on the web in a SA site a colour pic of the 1966 Kyalami 9 hours and the car is red.

    Now my doubt is:
if she was green in 1965 and red at the end of 1966 and again green in 1967, of wich colour she was in the first races of 1966 and expecially at the auvergne trophy in clermont ferrand?

please, is there anybody who knows?
... and is able to correct my small summaries?

    Thank you.

    wow

    Wonderful pic!

In many cases Piper's cars have been described, wrongly, as green but they where red!

And it is very strange that Piper (known everywhere for his special gree cars) won many of his most important races, driving red cars!

I think it was not i 1965 but in 1966.

    Please I ask another courtesy:
is there somebody who has a clour pic of the P2 winner Kyalami 9 hours in 1965?
I like to know how the exact stick on the rear side was (that one withe the name or names).

    Thank you

    @ Ferrari 360 CS

Thank you very much for this very interesting site.

That the colour of the car was green was well known.
What is less known, is the stick written on both sides and the decal close to it,

May be it was light blue (as it seems in the pic taken from the site you linked), similar to that on the 250 Le Mans he drove in 1964, with name (or names?) in white.

Surely not like the interpretation of the unique colour image available (top/right), that is just a (nice) painting.

Is it possible to have more information?
    Thank you, again.
    Renato
