I went to install a set of 16" BBS RS wheels on my '79 308 and found that I could not use the stock lug studs because there was not enough clearance between the nut part of the stud and the center flange of the RS wheel. I need a lug stud with a flange and smaller nut. Has anyone else had this issues and/or know where I can find the proper lug studs?

I think that some Porsches use M14x1.5 with a 19mm head (as opposed to 22mm for the Ferrari). Some other brands use M14x1.5 with a 17mm head (VW or Audi I think).

Also make sure that you get the proper seat (conical vs. ball) for your wheels.

Found this with a little googling:

Really? My ex-308 had a set of 16" BBS RS wheels, and I'd swear that they used the lugbolts with the rounded seat (like shown in that H&R ad) -- not a flange (but I don't know if there were/are different versions of the BBS RS wheel).

The front and rear are different length. Perhaps you are fitting the longer front stud onto the rear wheels.

The problem is the 22mm nut is too close to the center flange on the BBS wheel and you can not fit a socket on the nut. A 19mm or 17mm should provide enough clearance.

I will likely have to find some 70mm and then cut the rears to the correct length.

Thanks for the suggestion on the Porche studs. I was thinking VW or Audi (having had both) but not Porche.

The wheels came off a GT4 but I do not know what studs they ran.

Not a flat flange but a protrusion beyond the size of the nut. I am not sure how else to describe it.
