Two weeks ago I walked into my dealership....the front of a Nero 458 stared at me as I walked in. My eyes immediately focused on 2 or 3 nipples on the bumper. I asked myself "Are these rivets?". They looked out of place on such a beautifully designed car. Later, I learned these are the front sensors! For me, the 458 is one of the sexiest cars ever produced. Pininfarina's master plan for the 458 certainly did not include these nipples on the bumper. My dealer strongly encouraged me to add the sensors to my build. When I returned home and noticed the same nipples on my wife's Lexus 570, I immediately opted against the sensors. For me, I realized that they just don't work on this car. I would rather exercise great caution than have these nipples on my bumper. Bottom line...before making a commitment make sure you like the nipples.
Nipples? They are just small circles in the paint colour. Hardly noticeable, certainly not qualifiable as nipples. This car has the sensors. Can you spot them? Onno Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have no problem with the so called "overly sensitive" throttle. Frankly, I have no idea where this comes from except maybe the press trying to find something to write about. Cruise depends on how you intend on using it. If you are going on long trips, it's useful. If you're cruising around town or weekend drives, then its not. Buy it for the way you intend on using it. The same goes for Nav.
LOL, those little circles don't upset me. IMHO, they're barely noticeable. Have to parallel park everywhere in LA, so IMO they're a must.
Yes. I can. That's why I opt to not order them. Importantly, if they work for you that is all that matters.
A couple of years ago a newby guy in the F430 section asked "how much should I DEVALUE an F430 for having front parking sensors?" DEVALUE? You want a discount for something practical and useful???? I couldn't believe it.
Hey if someone doesn't want the options, no big deal....same if they don't want a used one because it has the option. These cars will sell either way, IMHO.
Fine. But calling them nipples is a bit daft since they do not protrude, and they are not a different colour. And as bdelp says, the lines and surfaces are broken by other things such as the headlamp washers so why you are falling over these is a mystery to me. But I'm happy to leave it a mystery and move on. Onno
Hey I like this guy, Because the 458 is so large and long, I believe you would need those "nipples" on it, to keep from ramming other vehicles when parking.
The seat piping is too much, especially with the colored stitching. Just go with the large racing seats and colored stitching. Tony............
For what it is worth, I just traded in my 2010 458 with full power daytonas and many other options on a spider with even more options. Mostly carbon fiber. No function, just looks. In regards to the seats. Yes, you need full power for heat/lumbar. With daytona option, @ 9k! In the spider I am going for sport seats. The reason is NOT that they are cheaper, but the daytonas had ZERO lateral support even with the fully adjustable bladders. I only weigh 145, but every review seemed to say the same thing. Also, for re-sale, especially in a coupe, the race seats are getting very popular. They are now aesthetically pleasing and more comfortable for all but the largest people. My dealer principle is no longer advising against them for resale. As far as lift, don't waste time or money. With the mandatory AFS lighting, you are looking at 6K. I had my car lowered and had delrin put on underside. All I have ever needed. Also, don't forget that you need the lift pulling into various lots/gas stations when there is no warning. The delrin is ready even if you are not! Hope this is of some use to you.
one thing that worries me about spider options is the lack of 4pt race belts with the race seats. im in asia so all my fcars has this option avaliable except for my 612, but the spider pics i seen so far does not have this. and doesnt seem to have the hinge holes in the back to do so. im worried because it will look super cool with these with the top down! http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv130/johns430/drives/IMG_2477.jpg
So, everyone has been talking about some superb options.. full electric seats, carbon this n carbon that... But which options really ADD value to your car? In particular, which options will INCREASE the resale value of your 458?? For example, I don't think you will sell your car for more if it's covered in carbon.. but I heard that you will find it more difficult to sell if you don't have the fender Scuderia shields....
Well, I don't think you should design your car with this purpose but from a discussion with the dealer it would be; Some kind of seat upgrade (power, daytona, or race) Painting caliper upgrade Shields Some kind of wheel upgrade After that, it would be stitching, CF steering wheel with LED's, and Electronic upgrades (Nav, Sat, Homelink, Auto mirrors, Stereo, etc) There is no magic bullet of course because all consumers are different. For example, some like standard colors (red, yellow, black) and there are others who want something different to stand out or be more subtle. The only way to really screw up resale value is to mess with an undesirable interior combo (like a red car with a green interior). That turns off people faster than any other "negative" when selecting a car. That being said, CF options can IMPROVE the look of the interior, and therefore making it more desirable. The only negative is that CF options are expensive and difficult to get your full money back. BUT, you still should buy what YOU want, not what you guess the next guy wants. If you try to guess, you could be completely wrong. Everyone is different.
Does anybody know what the sport exhaust pipes are? Any pics? They can't be too big of a deal at $800.
This is very well stated. I would agree with this 1,000%. I would also add staying with a color and interior scheme that's not too out there.
The so-called sports exhaust option for the 458 Spider is nothing more than different exhaust tips.. doesn't change the sound nor performance.. forget it..
