Just turned 7000 miles on the HGTE this weekend and cannot express enough how much I like this car, it's getting better with every mile and is simply an amazing machine. The whole package is remarkable, the engine, torque, suspension and comfort, all beyond words. The way the rear suspension sets itself when you hit the gas is a great feeling. There are numerous threads on the subject but I've wanted to start one on this car for some time now.

There are lots of great Ferraris out there and I have a few of them. Some are true time machines, the Dino, the Daytona. Others are pure joy, 328, Boxers. And some others have the legendary sound and feel of a race car with turn signals, 288 GTO, F40 and 599 GTO. But if there is one to put in the garage for all purpose, it's the 599.

The Beatles or Led Zeppelin on the radio coupled with the exhaust note, seating position and view over the bonnet and you could just as well be back in 1969. You can take the car across the country or out for an evening. And when you want to explore the limits of grip, you can take her out for a track day now and then. I can't say enough about how functional and beautiful this car is to drive. And anyone thinking about a 599, you simply cannot go wrong. This V12 is a masterpiece, my favorite modern Ferrari and a keeper. Picture from a few hours ago.

7,000 miles?!?! it's damaged goods now! think of the next owner, you selfish jerk! ;););)

that is a GREAT car. if I had the $$, my daily (possibly my only car!) would be a nero daytona 599 HGTE instead of the squashed beetle.

now go drive it some more! :D

Great post, I have been eye-balling the 599's for awhile now, and yours looks great. My next purchase maybe a 599.

Congrats!! I bought mine with 9700 miles in August and it now has around 10900 miles. Looks amazing except for a few stone chips, and runs perfectly. Truly an amazing car!

By the way, is the color Rossa Fiorano or Rossa Corsa?

The drive, feel and noise from a 599 and its 12Cyl. never, ever gets old. An amazing machine with a soul of its own. A modern Ferrari that is as beautiful in its form as it is timeless. Great post and thanks for sharing.

most powerful feeling car i ever had, but i didnt get the HGTE pack so i didnt like attacking the corners with it. but the torque made up for it.

After 60,000 km (37K miles) in 2.5 years, I can only share your love for the 599. What you say is even more meaningful given your wonderful collection.

It's a stunning machine and the experience just gets better and better with time. The more you get to know her, the more she rewards you.

Driving the 599 is always a wonderful event whether it's a trip to the grocery store, a blast up Route Napoleon or a road trip across Europe.

The engine, the looks, the handling, the sound...they all make driving the 599 a memorable experience.

Not to mention all the wonderful memories. I still remember the delivery day, that first road trip to Stuttgart, the first track day, the Tour of Sicily, driving from Monaco up to Paris and then to London in a day...and the list goes on and on.

I have no doubts that the best is yet to come. The next plan consists in shipping her over to the U.S. (hopefully next summer) to drive her cross-country with a couple of other F-car friends :)

Those who let their Ferraris collect dust in the garage are really missing out on something very special...

P.S. To add some color to the words, the pictures bellow are, respectively, from a drive on hills above Monaco yesterday morning, a road-trip to Paris this summer, the tour of Sicily (it's the Cathedral of Messina) and yes...grocery shopping ;)

@ Hawkeye and Carlo: I share your feelings 100%. My HGTE has about 14,400 kms on the clock now. Drove it on Saturday and I'm still in love with this car. Your posts above pretty much sum up my feelings and I look forward to driving it every time I open my garage. Yes, the GTO is a real treat (and I drove that one on Sunday) but boy the HGTE is such an exceptional GT and very usable.

The new 599 better be pretty damned good (technically AND design wise) or I'm keeping this one for a while longer!

You can get out of the Daytona and into the 599 and feel the direct historical lineage between the two. It's really quite something.

Amazing pics! Is it a huge hassle to arrange to ship your car to another country as well as dealing with the insurance?

I've been thinking of shipping my car to Europe to tour the continent.

Here's a picture of my car amidst a sea of red.

The 365 GTB4 Daytona is my dream car! If I could find a top notch restored model I would be a buyer! BTW, my 599 has less than 3000 miles on it.

I believe it will be Geneva 2012 (= March 2012) but I expect some of us may get invitations to go check it out in Maranello before that.
