    I was thinking that I really like my car as is a whole lot - thanks goth! But if there was a single thing that I would do to make it just that much better, what would it be?

    Me: I need more horsepower. Pure and simple. I need to make 400Hp to be happy. No more, I promise. Everything else works great. Honest. Just give me more ponies. Please! I want to embarrass Porsches. I want to show Subarus that a 20 year old exotic still rules. But most of all, I want to wipe the smug look off the faces of those late model Ferrari owners who think they own the latest and greatest.

    Now, if I could get the SS to perform like the 358, I could die a happy man! Can I do this for $1000? Ok, maybe $2000. Please?

    Swap your gearbox for the gearbox in the 358. I hear it's got really quick drop gears.

    Do like some Mondi's did and make (2) larger removable rear panels in the cockpit so engine-out service wasn't needed.

    Few cars would be easier to add turbo's too... I will always be baffled about why nobody, especially the 348 super-guru's like Dave Helms, Goth, FBB or Plugzit have taken on the project.

    Sorry to break it to you my friend...but 400Hp nor $2000 worth of mods is NOT going to embarrass any 458 nor F430 owners maybe and just maybe some 360's. Not a day go by I don't wish the same as you do to have my F355 blow the doors off those nasty 458s :D



    Not gonna happen without some sort of forced induction.

    Nitrous...450hp with equal build of torque. Will pass smog when off. Will not blow up motor. Less than 1000 for a really great system. Who's 348 is going to be the test subject? Vincent?

    I would marry mine if allowed. It is FAR AND AWAY more reliable than my last girlfriend!!! At least the car has a purpose in life. Her.......still trying to figure out what hers was!!! :)

    As silly as this sounds, I might be in for a ride... Still, I think we'd some some issues to address, like fuel delivery, but I think goth had an idea.

    As for challenging the late model cars, well, 458 and 430 Scuds aside, the power to weight ratio and gearing of the 348 lends itself pretty well to a 0-60 challenge on a 360, 550, 575, 612, California and maybe even a 599. I wouldn't have to spank them, just surprize the heck out of them by keeping up.

    About the 358, yes that sucker is pretty scary fast and much of that is the gearing, but, dang, you have to drive it to realize that 1st is only there to move the car from a stop and then it is useless. 2nd isn't much better but you still need 1st to get it to the next worthless gear. ;) After that, it's a flying beast. At Buttonwillow I used 2nd only for Turn 2 hairpin (closing radius) and had to use the top end of the rpm range at that. Not streetable as the say...

    Low pressure turbos, some better injectors (Dave) and maybe NOS. Then I'd go hunting 360's. The 358 already is faster than the 360 - track tested. Our cars are not far behind, I hope. But then, this is a dream thread. ;) :D

    Actually what I really want is a 4.0 liter version of our engines that is an easy swap.

    I'm serious for a streetcar nitrous is the way to go. On demand horsepower with very little downside. Turbos are OK for the track but stillnot as good as same HP/torque normally aspirated. I have enough problems on track without having to keep turbo's spooled to rocket out of a turn. I also think even if you are good with a 3 pedal car there is at least 1 second to be had on a 10 turn track just because of the F1. I think there are at least 2 seconds if you left foot brake. I think each chassis 348-55-360 etc chop off 5 seconds on the generic track. So there is a very long way to go even if you got the HP/torque the chassis would just be a 1980's design. On track I surprised 360's in my 348 racecar but that was a 2750 lbs 348 with wings,stock motor, and DeltaVee suspension and a better driver vs. a not so good one. Believe me it is a long way for a 348 just to get to a 360. It is way cheaper just to buy a faster car.

    If I want more power on my 348, I shall change it for a 355 or a 360.
    I love the 80's Pinifarina style of my car and the only idea I have to tune my car up is some carbon trims ( door panels, some dashborad parts and center console) and sports seats...
    That's all.....

    With 360's running $80-$90K, I have a lot of room for performance enhancements on my car.

    But I am intrigued by the NOS idea. I just don't want to burn up any pistons. I have to research this.

    What do you think about two really small turbo's. If 100hp extra would be the goal, do you think if a turbo system was made just to suit the 100hp extra. They could be smaller enough to decrease the spool up time? Or just not worth it?
