Now, this is not a rant, more of a reflection.

Don't get me wrong, the kid has a level of talent, and good for him that he is making something out of his life. I've got no disdain for this kid. However I've begun to question our society.

I know a lot of you gentlemen (and ladies) Have worked hard for what you own, and there for have a great appreciation for your material possessions. My father has worked 80 hour's a week; every week for the past 20years. Not daring to miss a day of work in all of those 20years because when he says he's going to do something he get's it done. Granted he never went to collage and that was his choice, but neither has Justin. No doubt what Bieber does includes some level of stress, but is he worth his weight in gold?
Are we rewarding the wrong people? I know this is how it's been and most probably always will be. I suppose this turned out to be a rant after all! :)

Like i said before no hate directed towards Justin, or any other Bieber fan's ( Bound to be one of you on here :p).
    Thought's? Comments! Please share!

On an unrelated note! He's got good taste. I really like the color combination.

He'***** the public eye what I would call recently. But he's been a singer for many years. He didn't buy the car, the public did. Any actor, singer, personality, it usually takes much talent, much work or both. He's probably gifted.

The only other option is to figure young people should be taxed at a super high rate but I don't think we're in favor of that. Good for him.

Sports stars are no different in my mind.

I believe there was a thread very similar to this not long ago.

Sorry did a quick look around and didn't find much.

Don't get me wrong, as a teenager myself a hint of jealously dawn's on me at a certain point.
I love These car's and would kill (Not literally.. Or.. Maybe..) to drive/own one.

Don't discount the level of committment he has put into his craft. Sadly some are more gifted than others. I've put in a lot of labor and worked real hard to buy a $23K Ferrari and I have to work on it myself because I'm don't have much in the way of any sort of natural talent that I can find. I could have worked harder in my life and I could work harder going forward. It's on us to chose how hard we want to work, how badly we want money.

At your age, if you want money and a Ferrari it is attainable.

i'm with you Geoff, i distain the obscene money that 'so-called' stars make.....very few if any IMHO deserve the kind of money they get, but the business has built-up so this is the norm...don't get me stated on pro-athletes

Athlete's in my honest opinion have more a claim to the riches than pop star's and dance divas. Not to mention my generation has to grow up with some of the worst music of all time. I do agree that MOST Pro's are handsomely overpaid.

i dont begrudge anybody their success. capitalism rewards hard work. you may not like the work, so dont buy the product. but we should not judge the work any other way.

think of it this way....the guy who buys this car new, is just taking the initial depreciation hit for the rest of us that are too cheap to buy anything but used ! thank god for them !!

    Agree 100%!

If fans started to boycott events with exorbitant prices for tickets to attend events, movies etc, or stop purchasing products with the 'chosen few' names on them, perhaps their incomes would become more realistic.

The person who toils at their job day after day will rarely obtain the wealth that 'celebrities' receive.

Yet, it's the common persons fault that allows said 'celebrities' to receive such outrageous incomes. For me, it's the Pro-athletes that offend me the most. Because of their incomes, it's beyond many peoples means to attend live events.

When anyone gets paid tens of thousands of dollars for an hour's worth of work, I consider it obscene!

P.S. To me Bieber looks like a little girl and I believe his popularity will be fleeting. Take Leif Garrett, once a teen heartthrob and today pretty much a loser.

    Nice 430.

I agree with many here in regards to pro athletes and singers payday. Only in America are they paid so.. (well I guess "football"stars in the UK make some good coin).. I can't begrudge the supply and demand forces at work. If people will pay and want the good, so be it. However inequitable that may be..

Don't forget the attrition rate for both the Sports and Entertainment industry. Those making $$$$ are truly the 1% (pun intended).
OTOH, easy come/easy go. How does the statistic follow.. 70% of pro athletes are bankrupt within 5 years of the end of playing sports..?

Justin Beiber's success has been great but it will be shortlived, he won't last forever in the main eye but he's made enough money to enable him to live with that, like the child actor from richie rich, anyone seen him lately?

I don't want to dismiss anybody at any age, but c'mon.... So the kid has some singing talent....The rest is done by songwriters and management.... Most pop stars are fabricated by corporations, heck you don't even have to know how to play an instrument and lets not talk about the quality of music that's out there.... Real bands like Led Zep, Stones etc... who played music that mattered to them is a thing of the past save for a few excepetions and the Biebs ain't one of them. Good for him that he's cashing in. I could just imagine how much his management is making off his voice. In ten years we'll be asking what happened to him along with the rest...I hope he has some savings put aside.

    That's a rant ;) ...
