I just went with their protocal. It's just a couple clicks online "reason"- non deliverance. etc. I can show you if I pull up PP and run through it. It's at the top of the page. When you file, the seller has like two weeks to reply, but of course the folks at Stebro didn't make any reply, so it was instantly credited to my account. I tried to email Sergiy, but I only got one reply asking what I had ordered, and then nothing. It really was after I paid, all communication cut off, but Dan did take a leap of faith and send the exhaust I had not paid for.
I told the schmucks at payf*cker that I recieved approximately 1/3 of the system that I ordered, and they told me words to the effect that "quality" issues are not covered.
horse poop. clearly your issue, if as described, is covered by the paypal user agreement. https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=ua/UserAgreement_full&locale.x=en_US#13.%20Protection%20for%20Buyers. DM
Eric, That is a pretty f-ing surprising turn of events....but if you had called me first, I would have steered you way clear of Stebro...just seen way too many bad threads and comments about them. I am glad it worked out for you, and want to get together with you soon so I can hear it!! Btw, I recently had a Capristo installed on my 355 at Ferrari of Seattle...it is insane. Lets have dinner soon, I buy!
Yep, if paypal decides it's covered. If they decide it isn't covered, one doesn't have much recourse. At this point, it's semi-moot, as stebro did finally send me some more pieces. I still haven't heard from my mechanic as to whether the pieces are usable or not, however now the case is even less like what is covered, and more like what is not covered. If the mechanic says the system is uninstallable, I guess that I'll try to appeal or something.
Yeah, I was a little worried, 'cos I've read a lot of the Stebro stories, but I wanted the exhaust: cheap, nice, GREAT sound. I figured if I did paypal, paid by Visa, I could stop it via the paypal or Visa. Anyway, I put a stop payment as soon as I felt that it was going down a bad road. Capristo??!!! Man, I remember Joel's. SICK!!!!! Yeah, lets connect soon. You name the time and place. I'm almost done with the paint and body... Then suspension!!!!!
Few months before i went to Stebro shop they have templates for all models and i was surprised to hear that they are in the business since 1956. I am planning to buy X pipe from them, one of my friend installed that in her car the sound seems awesome, got impressed with that. Can any one tell me is there any discount i can avail from them for FCA members?
I have a 365 GT 2+2 and FWIW I didn't have any problems with Stebro and the unit went on just like the old ANSA system. Both the ANSA (installed in 1989) and the Stebro (installed this summer) involved numerous curses to the header and hanger gods (20+ flipping hangers!). I bought my Stebro exhaust in 2005 for under $2000 including shipping and felt it was a fair price. I used pay paypal and had the system in less than two weeks. I would like to think that I would buy another unit from them; however, based on what I have read of late I am not sure I would buy from them now. Feel free to e-mail me if anyone has questions. J.P.
Seeing as this thread started SEVEN years ago and nothing has really changed with Stebro I think it should be made a sticky. It's time to put an end to this B.S.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I bought mine mainly because I liked the sound of one I heard (albeit in a video clip) but also at the time I bought mine they were less than 50% the cost of "the other guys". I couldn't see paying that much more for a nice shiny Tubi when I liked the sound of the Stebro better anyway (and you can't see it on my car to boot!). They are much closer in price since Stebro raised their prices I wouldn't recommend anyone try dealing with them. Sorry, I do like mine and didn't have any fitment issues but the service is just so horrid I wouldn't do that to anyone.
If it's that bad send it back and then fight for the refund. Doesn't seem like you'd really be out any more money and could go get another system instead of trying to make unusable parts fit.
Hello to everybody, i am personally finished Daytona exhaust for the customer that waited for very long. I am personally not making any money on doing this unless i get payed for the hours i worked at Stebro or making sales on my own distribution company Tan Auto Parts. The way i deal with the issues - is when i`m in control of the cash - i pay to Stebro, prepay for all the materials needed to do the job, after, i come and check the product made, to make sure the product has no fitment issues as well as everything being as described. ONLY after i get the product - i pay to STEBRO the rest of the money - witch eliminates timing issues, this way i deliver the product to the customers in time. I can not promise anything if you deal with Stebro directly, i helped many people already, but it`s hard to do it if i don't make a dime on it, it`s hard to control really unless i control the cash. This was honest answer to addressed questions. Best Regards, Sergiy
I ordered an X-Pipe for my 2004 575M that I used to own. I had to prepay and when the part came, my F-Car mechanic thought the part was a joke! All the bends looked like they took a sledge hammer to it, terrible workmanship. My mechanic refused to install it based on the inability to match up to the existing factory pipes and the thin guage. FYI, my mechanic worked at Ferrari of New York for many years before setting up shop in Calgary. He spoke to the owner directly and the owner of Stebro (promised over the phone) to refund my money and take back the joke of a part. I spoke to the owner on numerous occasions and he was always great at making empty promises.(That he would refund my money, based on returning the X-Pipe) I told him that I would ship the X-Pipe back once I received my refund......never saw the refund even though he promised that he would send it out to me. When I am in his neck of the woods, if he still has face to actually show his face, I will pay him a personal visit. The guy is a liar and does not honor his work or word......worthless product. This was my honest experience and I would advise everyone : BUYER BEWARE and DO NOT PAY BEFORE YOU RECEIVE YOUR PRODUCT! In my construction business, I am confident to receive payment after our work is done......I have only had one (dishonest problem customer) in my 28 years in business. The expensive paperweight is still sitting in my garage, in the NFG pile.
That's nice that you say that, but it's total BS. How are you going to check fitment for a car that you don't own? You sure as hell didn't check the fitment on the system that you sent me! For less money and a whole lot less trouble, I could have just bought a 3" system from any number of places. However my whole reason for wanting the Stebro system was that it is the only one that is supposed to be made like the factory system so it should have much better ground clearance than the 3" systems. However with the crappy job you guys did building mine, it barely fits, and has no better ground clearance than the 3" systems. Whoopee, such a deal! I have to confess that it sounds very nice, but the only way I would ever do business with Stebro again would be if I took my car to Canada and had it installed at their shop where I could watch the work getting done, and not pay a nickel until it's done right. Yeah right!
I've purchased, shipped and installed three ANSA systems since this thread was started! The early 308GTB system is pretty simple, admittedly ...but bending/welding tube isn't rocket science....I just hate to see all this teeth knashing going on... I also note Dr. Barry has been very happy with both Mille Miglia out of Oz on his early 308GTB, and Classic Coach has someone on the west coast doing good work for the 550 Maranello systems.
Assumption is a mother of the mistake. How do i check? Simple, when i come i look at original exhaust, check the joint dimensions, look at overall structure, compare to original again to make sure the size does not come out from the given proportions and also make sure of the quality of the welds and finish(when i sell the exhaust, i don't check the exhausts sold from Stebro). You told me yourself exhaust looked great, Randy i also remember conversation when you wanted to invest in Stebro. As far as installation - you have to be good at what you do otherwise the exhaust may drag behind the car And sometimes mistakes happen, i would hate to see somebody laugh from you when you screw up a bit at work... Best Regards, Sergiy
It would be only fair if after negative you have seen the positive of conducting the business, as i already mention - we left EBay because of there excessive fees, and NO, you can not contact us on EBay anymore, but you can still see feedbacks from the customers, all the customers, not only the ones that something happen to, this year was sold over 1000 exhaust parts, so you can see the positive and do the math with negative : http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=tanautoparts&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller
If you guys or Stebro stand behind your products, why is it such an issue to receive a refund for an inferior, POS, product?????.......in my case; an X-Pipe for an 04 575M..........you may have, as you call it: ("you can see the positive and do the math with the negative"), but when a company F***s up on a product, it is their responsibility and obligation to MAKE IT RIGHT!!!!!, either by full refund or new item that is actually not a POS or belongs in the NFG pile crap! I stand by my experience and honest comments and I would not recommend Stebro to my worst enemy............enuf said.
I can only answer for my company and that is Tan Auto Parts, we, as a company, provide quality customer service as was already mentioned. Today we sold down pipes to our customer, here is the picture of it. P.S. My advice - talk nice to Dan and ask for exchange, because of your reason. Really? Talk nice to Dan is your advice? Seems if Dan is aware of this thread he ought to be calling up all the pissed off customers on this thread and talking very nice to them. I never did buy from Stebro based on this thread and my gut feeling after calling and talking to Dan I culdn't justify the risk for the few dollars saved so I went with a Tubi for the QV and then a X-OST for the TR. The cheap always comes out expensive and this thread proves it.
Wow. I'm sure glad I went with a Bell exhaust for my BB512i. I got it in only a few weeks from the UK for less than $2,000USD, it fit perfectly and looks and sounds great.
You did not pay me a penny, i'm still trying to help you. I gave you advice Sparta - use it. Best Regards, Serge
