Ebbro has announced they will do a 1/20th scale Lotus 72C plastic kit for release in March 2012. Also a photo of the Hiro 1/12th Lotus 79 full kits tub and Tameo 1/43rd 312 1968 kit. And finally one that some will love, a super limited resin kit of the Competizione Nurburgring P4/5 version in 1/24th scale from Garage 24 of Japan, the only 1/24th scale kit of this car.(limited to less that 50 I hear). Should we assume that this (and the recent APM models) are not licensed by Jim (Napolis) Glickenhaus?
I doubt it as it is very limited and would be considered as art. Small editions like this are not required to have a license in most cases, although they could try to scare them by having lawyers send letters. Good luck winning in Japanese or even US court as a similar case has already been settled without royalty requirements in the USA. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2012-Chicago March 2012
I have been saying that for years. If anyone has any doubts just refer to the Lanham Act of 1946 (aka Trademark Act) which covers most trademark and service mark infringements. As long as they don't try to pass it off as liscensed or use any trademarks in the act of advertising it they are within what Lanham allows. And there is no limit as to what they can produce but the limited availability makes it even less of a target to go after. I hope the real car runs in more races. It looks good as a race car but I'm not a fan of the carbon fibre color. It would probably look really sharp in a real color.
Hi Ed, I agree on the color. Not a fan of unpainted carbon fibre. I think that will go out of style as the cool thing to do in a few years. I hope he paints it in NART colors next year. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2012-Chicago March 2012
I hope it ends up any color but red, the road version doesn't look all that good in red just as most modern Ferrari's don't IMO.
I guess I was a little too subtle: my point was really about the fact that this car is JG's intellectual property, he is a valued member here and, just maybe, it's not quite right for models made without his approval to be promoted here. Just a thought. No need for debates about whether a case is winnable or anything.
I understand your viewpoint, but what they are doing seems to be legal. If you wanted to follow what you are saying to the letter you would have to remove every photo or drawing of the P4/5 that was ever posted or made without Jims approval, including on this website. I do not own this company or do I sell their kits. It is a car based on a Ferrari Enzo and it is the only model kit of this car in 1/24th scale. I think that it is only natural to show availability, unless we want to live under a rock. I am not saying I agree with what they are doing, just that they did it. You don't have to after all buy the model. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2012-Chicago March 2012
i got a revell corvette zr1. just a quick question for u good modelers out there. is there a way to do a matte color or flat color? i saw krylon had a matte finish but i have no clue really what that would do. and how do u really get small details painted, like dials and knobs?
More photos of the Hiro 1/12th scale Lotus 79 full detail. Looks amazing. It will be around $700.00-800.00 and is a full kit much more detailed than a 1/8th Pocher. They will include rivets for the tub. For dull paint go to any hobby shop and check their military paints. Testors makes a flat black in a spray can. You can post more on your model in the completed model and wip thread. Hello again, Where can I bought the Competizione P4/5 1/24th scale from Garage 24 ? Also, I bought (via e-bay) the 1/24 TR61 Leman's Winner from Pinto's Collection, but I found very average quality. Lot of fogging (cause of CA glue?), dirty clear parts, black seats in my example (blue on e-bay image), glue on exhausts, bad metal foil application etc. The body are metal... In fact I wait a resin body... What the kit source of this model? What your opinion about this models. Anyone has any experience with Pinto's 1/24 TR61? Thanks for your time...
I don't have the TR61 but I do have several of the F1 cars. They are good but not great quality. I bought them to tear down and rebuild. They are still cheaper than alot of kits in built form so why not buy them to rebuild? I do not have a retailer for the P4/5 yet. You might ask one of the Japanese retailers in Tokyo if they can get them. Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2012-Chicago March 2012
For that Flat Finnish, don't forget to prime the plastic first, then use any color you want, and finish with a coat of Testor's "DULLCOAT" that'll do a great job and has just the right "suede" look. I spray Duplicolor primer and paint, usually. Have fun with models! Dennis

For big scale models I came accross Otto Models. I thought I had seen it all, but they are a maker of mainly 1/12th(and 1/18th) Renault, Alpine Renault and French car models. Not really for the kit thread but interesting. http://www.otto-models.com/index.php/en/ottomobile-our-models?view=category&id=11 Tom Tanner/Ferrari Expo 2012-Chicago March 2012

I don't know if they are going about engineering the kit the best way. That body assembly is not conventional and looks like a potential nitemare unless every single part is perfectly straight, meaning not warped.
Looks almost like an Accurate Miniatures type of kit. I think they tried to copy the real car to much. Hope it all works as the kit looks stunning in the box.
