There is actually a simple fix for this, there is a write up in the 348 Brotherhod II magazine.

I will scan it and post here tomorrow

OP said $1000-2000 dollars so there is no way turbos would work. IMO turbos are used at the next budget level when you don't have the skill or budget to build a hot motor. Just a top flight rebuild on a 355 could be $20k with no performance enhancement. Turbo's will get you more HP and be way cheaper. But in road racing any racer would tell you given the same HP/Torque they would always opt for normally aspirated over turbos. Under certain conditions each will have advantages. For example lets say you are racing 1 car in NASA ST1 and NASA ST2. With turbos you could dial boost and ride in either class and be a font runner because you could almost pick your horsepower based on boost level. You can't do that with a NA car. IMO you got to be a better driver to be really good with turbo's. Even very small turbos are hard to keep spooled.

Well similar subjects have been tossed about over food at Vince's .......... I say a few more BBQs and we should have it completely ironed out :D .......... ;)!!!!

ok seriously .......... having my share of turbo experience ......... in this scenario, the biggest downside would be the cost. After buying a pair of garretts then designing/fabricating the associated plumbing, it can quickly go well beyond what most are willing to spend

However, after reading this thread and being stubborn when it comes to challenges ...... I started mulling over some lower cost / low boost design possibilities ..... a configuration that could add 30-40 RWHP at minimum, quite a bit more if you are 'feeling lucky' and want to 'turn up the boost' .............. these gains would be on top of what your current mods are :)!!! I called Vince and we briefly discussed the possibilities ........ we still need to look at his SS to determine if the design could even be physically supported ............. will keep you posted, should fitment be feasable and we decide to go forward with the effort :) ................. oh yeah, after perusing current emmission regs ............ it may even be 'compliant' ...........

I have had my 348 for a very short period of time (roughly two weeks) but, the only thing I think I would do is get rid of the automatic seatbelts and go back to a simple 3 point system as used in the 89. The car is such a pure driver, I hate it they had to add them.

There's also at least one nitrous oxide injected 348 I've heard of over this way. Think Sy knows the guy pretty well, but I'm not sure what his car kicks out.
