You can always "comment" on you own ad with the reduced price.

Hard to edit the ads apparently..

That's a Euro car (from the bumper and lights)???
That would make it a NON CAT car if so, (and "good cams")

    Please clarify that..

    Send a PM to carreaper

Did non-cat Euros come with the cat horse shoe engine lid? It also has Slow Down lights on the dash and the engine instruments are in English. There is also an Emission control information plate in the engine compartment. My Euro 308 is a later serial number, (28693), and has none of the above mentioned items. No slow down lights, all instruments in Italian, KPH, and degrees C. Would be interesting to see the spare tire. Just askin'.

I ddin't think euro cars came with the smaller vents in the engine lid. Also, it has US running lights in the front fenders instead of the quarter rounds. And quad exhaust instead of the single pipe. Just sayin....

    I typed: 308 GTC

Sorry, I was thinking of my GTC.

The spare tire is a standard rim with an XWX mounted.

Wouldn't the FULL VIN clarify things Gents?

IIRC, 4th Digit/Character reading from the left?

VINs before ~1981 are pretty useless (i.e., they meet no standardized requirement). Everything visible in the engine bay photo says "euro" (no air pump mounting boss on the 1-4 camcover, the single distributor, no exhaust header insulation), but not impossible to swap engines...

A truly "complete" euro-to-US conversion would include adding things like the slow-down lights, cats, the more-vented rear bonnet, and the emission plate (but agree that that seems rather unusual). Actually, a euro engine in a US chassis might not be a bad thing because it would have the thermal insulation in the exhaust area so if you needed to have a cat mounted for emission reasons that would be better and no DOT/EPA paper hassle ;)

This would be a 5 digit VIN, somewhere after my 22127, 22641....as Steve notes there's no contry designation digit in these cars.

It looks like a Euro (bumpers and bicolor front turns) that has been fitted with North American side lights (front and rear fender rectangles).

Single distributor would also = Euro.
But it looks like and aftermarket ignition, so that might not be original...

    Edit: Bob gives it......23639.

The current VIN format for cars was legislated into effect in 1980... 1981...

I asked for the "euro" to be confirmed by the cars documents after telling the seller of the non euro aspects shown in the pictures emailed to me the first time this was posted.

    I never heard back.

    Something seems odd.

I would not give up yet...there's been so many owners change "cosmetics" like bumpers and lights, but the underlying chassis "is what it is".....

Does he have the Pouch of Owners manuals??

The North American cars manuals have a distinctive "stars and bars" stripe across the top.

Said everything was with the car, I don't know what was there as he never got back.

Anyway it doesn't really matter to me. I'm looking for an early euro GTS, this ain't the one tho.

Looks like everything is Euro but the side markers and gauges have been "federalized". It's got the correct front bumper and rear bumper and valance. Also doesn't look like it ever had the air pump and piping or it was a nice job of removal.

Interior looks very original and it looks like it's been taken care of pretty well. Does look like the front end has quite a few rock chips. Doesn't seem to be a bad deal!?

engine is euro no doubt, but a

    usa emision plate?
rear usa 3 piece under bumper valance?

it could be a mish mash of cars?

    too many issues to list,

    Resurrecting this thread.

Curious what happened to this 308 GTS chassis 23639. Anyone know? It belonged to a friend of mine back in the early 90's and I have some video of it on two different tracks plus some interesting history.
